"Cutting the red tape"? As in making it easier and faster to get things done? That's a perpetual theme for politicians, but of course nothing ever changes. Why is that? Well, we've got 435 House critters, all of whom are high-ego enough to think they're a capable leader and willing to spend a lot of time and money going around telling people how wonderful they are for the job. And a large percentage of these people are self-centered assholes who think they're the only ones who know anything and everybody else is an idiot. And another large percentage come into office with their feet firmly dug in and no interest in others' issues. And another large percentage whose drive to be noticed requires that they nit-pick any piece of legislation that comes past them, adding their own amendments or objections. And to get anything done, a majority of these critters have to vote together. And then it goes to the Senate where prima donnas like Loopy Lindsay and Cruz are mainly interested in TV bytes, and where one odd member can force a 2/3 vote requirement through filibuster.

So that's the root of your "red tape" problem, Marsha Marsha Marsha. Exactly what are you and your pizza cutter going to do about it?
Dolt .45 and the GQP cut red tape for RRs. That worked out well.

How effed up is our political system when pols have to raise over $10,000 a week from the time they win an election to their next election.

Barely leaves time to vote on legislation much less author any good legislation.

Yeah, like watching a train wreck.
People like to whine about regulations, but very few are arbitrary for no reason. It would be nice if corporations and individuals could go about their business without regulation because their top priority was providing the best product/service for the public and doing so in a way that is safe and beneficial for the public consumers. But if the top priority is profit, that doesn't work so well.

Good point. If left up to me, they'd have plenty of time for that stuff. I haven't contributed to a politician in years and don't intend to. I also don't generally watch the endless awful ads they buy with all that money.

... I wrote to her regularly for years offering advice, but have not done so in quite some time. I began to feel that my advice was being ignored because she is still alive and she is still a US Senator. That first thing is mere misfortune for us all, but the second is just ridiculous. I think I get to vote against her again next year. Or it might be in four years. Either way she's got my fish slap.

GOP Sen. Marsha Blackburn Floats Conspiracy Theory On Titanic Sub And Hunter Biden

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) has appeared to suggest that an announcement about the fate of the missing Titan submersible was somehow planned to distract from accusations against the president’s son Hunter Biden.

“If the U.S. Navy suspected that the Titan Submersible imploded just hours after it began its voyage, why did the Coast Guard wait until Thursday—the same day the IRS whistleblowers testified before Congress—to make their announcement to the public?” asked the senator in a Friday night tweet.
 But wait, she's even dumber than that:
... The interviews with the two whistleblowers had taken place weeks ago, not the same day as the Titan announcement, as Blackburn suggested.
Opps.
... While some questions about the Titan’s doomed voyage still remain, such as precisely why it imploded, there is no evidence to back up Blackburn’s suggestion that its discovery was planned for political reasons.
There never will be, but Hunter-obsessed wingnuts like Marsha Marsha Marsha don't care.

 I may have to write to her on this one. Goddamn lunatic.
I'll initially go through a highlight synopsis of my previous suggestions to her and express my profound disappointment that she's not adopted ANY of those wise recommendations from me and then I'll start in on this little submarine business. For one thing, the US Navy and the Coast Guard are two separate entities and as far as I know the navy was not involved in any way in the event (other than hearing the damn thing implode shortly after it left its launching ship). Besides, even if the navy did tell the Coast Guard about what they heard, which I doubt, the Coast Guard would defer to the navy as to whether to tell anyone else. On top of all that, what the navy heard COULD have been something else. So if the navy said "this thing has been stomped and will never rise" less than two hours after it fish plopped into the water and then it be discovered later, intact, on the bottom of the ocean, it would make the navy look stupid. And that, Marsha, is why the navy didn't say anything until the unmanned vehicle actually saw some of the sub debris proving it got stomped.

My understanding from other articles is that the Navy did inform the Coast Guard right away as to what they heard, that it or the Coast Guard informed other rescuers, and that the Coast Guard or other rescuers even informed the families. Folks held out hope, but I think everyone directly involved knew they were dead early on. I sure did and I was unaware of what the Navy heard.

I'd not heard about the navy telling CG what they heard. As far as I knew, the announcement that the vessel had imploded (debris spotted by unmanned search vehicle) happened before the navy issued its statement. In any case, Marsha is still eminently fish slappable on this and all other matters.

Titan families told of potential 'implosion' sound Navy detected before news reports

The U.S. Coast Guard informed the families of the Titan crew that the Navy had detected a sound consistent with an implosion in the area the submersible went missing before that sound became public knowledge Thursday evening, a defense official said Friday....

After analyzing the sound, the Navy determined it was consistent with either an implosion or explosion, and was able to triangulate its location to area where the sub had lost communications. The Navy immediately passed its findings on to the Coast Guard, according to the official.

The official said the sound, while consistent with an implosion, was not taken as proof the Titan was destroyed, which is why rescue efforts continued until its debris was found Thursday morning....

The defense official said the choice of whether to publicly acknowledge the apparent implosion or explosion discovered by the Navy on Sunday belonged to the Coast Guard. It is not clear exactly when the families were informed, or why the Coast Guard chose not to inform the public of the apparent implosion, even as it acknowledged later banging sounds were detected that gave some hope that a rescue was still possible.

The official emphasized that the Coast Guard took care to inform the families of the Navy's discovery before it was known to the public....
Yes, Marsha Marsha Marsha is an idiot, regardless, even more so since the Coast Guard absolutely did the right thing by waiting until found debris confirmed the tragedy. Please share any fish slaps you send her.

Yeah, I already voted against her once in 18 when Bredesen ran against her. I look forward to voting against her dumb ass again next year. If she loses, I'll send her a damn nice farewell stomping.

Yeah, I read that story this morning.....Marsha has to this day refused to take my advice (that I've personally relayed to her more than once) to solve the "open border" problem by standing naked at the southern border which would immediately result in a veritable stampede away from the southern border in desperate efforts to escape the hideous sight. I told her it wouldn't cost anything and it'd make her at least an associate Jesus in the cult of stupid. I also pointed out that doing this would also serve to give her lots of air time on Faux News which is one of her main goals in life.
