Kari Lake, wingnut

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Whoops.

No worries though, she'll give herself a pretend pardon from her pretend governor's office.

One official "seeks". Generally this means it ain't gonna happen.

Isn't this the sunshine state thar allows all documents to be destroyed after 90 days. Good luck finding an original document before an indictment and we all know that Democrats alter documents before they copy them.

Kari Lake Campaign Says She Wouldn't Be Trump's VP For The Most Absurd Reason
The unsuccessful Arizona gubernatorial candidate won a straw poll at CPAC for the GOP vice presidential pick.

... Lake won a straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday, earning 20% of the vote in a field of 28 candidates. Her hypothetical competitors included former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Only 20%, but still disturbing.
Former President Donald Trump won the straw poll of the GOP’s declared and likely 2024 presidential candidates with 62% of the vote.
Some are saying that 62% isn't very strong in what has become TPAC.

62%, down from what was probably 90%+ a couple of years ago is trending in the wrong direction.

Mind boggling that a wingnut former reporter with no real world experience in any type of administrative role could be considered for the #2 role for the most powerful person in the world especially considering trump could be one prime rib dinner from the big grab.

I don't know where it came from, but they've always had this idea that being an elected official is something that "anybody" can do, and that experience as an actual politician is a bad thing. As far as I know, that's the only job that a large part of the population believes that of. These same people probably expect more training and experience from their plumber. I've had sad fun with the idea over the years: "Hmmm, time to do taxes. There's a long list of CPA's and tax specialists here, but I think I'd rather have somebody who can come in with a different perspective. Probably if you're a good drywall hanger you can be an accountant." Or, "I need to go in for some surgery but I don't trust the "career doctors." Or "I'm getting arrested, but I think lawyers are scum. I'll just represent myself"

What could go wrong?

She's still working it:
Kari Lake Makes Wild Claim About Fox News After Tucker Carlson Firing

... “It’s very obvious right now that Fox News has become the establishment GOP, which is really the uniparty Republicans,” she said on the competing conservative outlet Newsmax. “They’re the ones who are really in bed with the left.” ...
 Any Faux Noise bashing is good Faux Noise bashing.
“I don’t know if Tucker’s listening to this, but if he happens to hear it, I beg you, Tucker Carlson, to speak out,” she continued. “Break the terms of that contract. We need your voice over the next year and a half to save our country. And if you get sued by your former employer, we will help create a defense fund to help you fight that lawsuit.” ...
 A Tucker-Faux Noise legal fight will be a great thing. At least one LOSER will be the loser.

Irony. When Kari Lake, wingnut is involved even with a lawyer plenty can go wrong.
A few hours in and Kari Lake's trial is already over (or it should be)

... Her attorney, Kurt Olsen, told the judge he’d be presenting evidence that Maricopa County didn’t verify the voter signatures on “hundreds of thousands” of early ballots, instead hiring signature reviewers who just went through the motions while the county looked on.

“This isn’t a question of not doing it well enough,” he told judge. “They’re simply not doing signature verification.”

Then Olson called his first witness: A “whistleblower” who proceeded to annihilate Lake’s case.
Opps. They have this idea that being a lawyer is something that "anybody" can do.
... Lake’s second “whistleblower,” Andy Myers, was no more helpful to Lake’s case....

According to the judge, Lake has to prove that Maricopa County didn’t validate any signatures.

According to Lake's whistleblowers, that's just not the case.

“I was very focused on verifying signatures and making sure the signatures matched,” Onigkeit said.

As blockbusters go, Kari Lake is halfway there.

If you count the “bust” part.

Should be fun when Maricopa County presents its witnesses, if its lawyers even bother now.
