Artificial intelligence and the future

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

What's up with the Ivankas' 5 hands, 3 1/2 arms and uncountable fingers?

AI hasn't been able to grasp the hand concept.

Yes, AI has a very hard time with the number of fingers and teeth as well. Looking at those is usually a dead giveaway if someone is trying to pass of AI as an artist image. At least if they aren't carefully checking AI's work.

Did I pick a good one?

It's a Groomer Goat? :o Cool.

That's okay. Fascist DerSantis replied to my Flintstones note and banned me from the state, anyhow. I guess I'll have to wait for a Dem, Groomer Goat-tolerant Gov.

Here's one for you:

Whoa, there are new goats:

Is banni doing that or is it an auto-Groomer Goat AI gone wild? These 10 fingers (no thumbs) look so-so . . . unless AI was trying for cloven hooves

I guess banni told AI to work some peace signs in. Will AI mock bigots if asked, and can it weave The Flintstones into its mocking?

I think I unleashed banni. Opps.

I'm cool with Freda Flintstone, but then I have questions:
Where are Wilma's legs?
Where is the right rear wheel?
Why is there a tree onboard?
Wth is that smooth and shiny blue thing?

I stumbled on this:

A trivia quiz (I got 8 out of 13 correct :( ) was not what I was expecting. Is that sick? :o

Houston, Texas:
Man raped in jail after AI technology wrongfully identifies him in robbery, suit says
:( :puke-left: Pay him off and then prosecute the responsible parties at EssilorLuxottica, Sunglass Hut, Macy’s, Houston PD and Harris County.

Predators are using AI to sexually exploit children, FBI says. Here’s what we know
Ewww. Any real person, including kids, can be deep faked into becoming a porn star. For example:

Explicit AI photos of Taylor Swift were shared online. Legal experts weigh in on how she can fight back.

We may be able to limit LEO use of faulty AI, but I think the AI porn ship done sailed.

Meet the UC Berkeley professor tracking election deepfakes

... The manipulative, insidious AI-generated content is already being weaponized in politics and will be pervasive in the upcoming U.S. Presidential election, as well as those in the Senate and the House of Representatives.

As regulators grapple to control the technology, incredibly realistic deepfakes are being used to smear candidates, sway public opinion and manipulate voter turnout. On the other hand, some candidates, in backfired attempts, have turned to generative AI to help bolster their campaigns.
Ugh
University of California, Berkeley’s School of Information Professor Hany Farid has had enough of all this. He has launched a project dedicated to tracking deepfakes throughout the 2024 presidential campaign.

“My hope is that by casting a light on this content, we raise awareness among the media and public — and we signal to those creating this content that we are watching, and we will find you,” Farid told VentureBeat.
 GoFaridGo!
From Biden in fatigues to DeSantis lamenting challenging Trump ...

Anything can be fake; nothing has to be real ...

Stop, think, check your biases

Research has shown that humans can only detect deepfake videos a little more than half the time and phony audio 73% of the time.

Deepfakes are becoming ever more dangerous because images, audio and video created by AI are increasingly realistic, Farid noted. Also, doctored materials are quickly spread throughout social media and can go viral in minutes....
Yikes. Will we be able to cope?
Telltale deepfake signs to look out for

... Think you’ve spotted a deepfake related to the U.S. elections? Contact Farid.

AI hustlers stole women’s faces to put in ads. The law can’t help them.

Summary: Nothing can be trusted, and we're screwed.
