Because I am cheap, I don't ever foresee myself buying a brand new car. Too expensive for me. The "newest" car I've ever bought is one that is four years old.
You aren't doing it wrong if no one knows what you are doing.

That's good to see. Materials sciences are making things last longer. Cars don't rust out the way they used to.

Furnishings seems to be an exception. I expect this is because of cheap flat-pack particle-board furniture replacing solid wood furniture in recent decades.
