Ban everything

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Ban everything

Unread post by billy.pilgrim »

Maybe it's time to join in. Defending books and poems doesn't work as long as a single rightwinger can force book removal.
What about their big book full of slavery, rape, theft, there’s even fratricide and fathers screwing daughters.

https://www.abc4.com/news/northern-utah ... er-grades/

"Copies of the King James Bible are being removed from school library shelves at elementary and junior high facilities in Davis County, Utah, after an unknown person’s complaint that the scriptures feature material inappropriate for younger children."

But, but but, why do they get an appeal? Amanda Gorman's poem was a simple one and done.

"Williams also stated that an appeal has already been filed by an individual who wants the Bible retained at all age levels. That appeal will be heard by a three-member committee from the Davis School District Board of Education, which will then forward the issue to the full board for a final decision."
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

There's no "grooming" like that old fashioned smut and violence. Every prince/princess fairytale should be challenged for sexualizing kids, too.

Utah law and/or policy vs Florida law and/or policy? -0-?

The whole thing is stupid, but room for counter-appeals is a slight improvement.

Unless appeals are only for certain books.

-0-? This article doesn't mention appeals:
Bible-waving demonstrators gather outside Utah Capitol to protest its ban from school libraries

Bible-toting parents and Republican lawmakers gathered outside the Utah State Capitol to protest a school district’s decision to ban the book from its middle and elementary school libraries.

Protesters held placards reading “Remove porn, not the Bible” and gathered to protest the Davis School District’s removal of the Bible from some schools.

The demonstrators were also joined by Utah representative Ken Ivory who is the author of the “sensitive materials” law under which the district initially reviewed the Bible....

I posted that quote from the original article above. I was just pointing out that the new article ignores the appeal and just discusses the protest.

What libraries would look like if all books were removed that could possibly be offensive to somebody:
