More Republicans say former President Trump is a person of faith

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

In order to beseech his god all he has to do is look in a mirror. "Faith" is a slippery topic.

As shocked as we may be by this idea that many in the cult of trump can accept this idea of his devine anointment as something they can hang their hats on, it’s not new to our modern republican party, but has long been at the center of conservative beliefs.
Maybe we liberals tend to forget, and forgive so easily that we are repeatedly shocked by republican and their insane behavior.
It was only 25 years ago, that the embodiment of evil, Barbara Bush, expressed her belief that her son had been put on this earth by a one and only god to undo the crimes FDR and other communists had inflicted on our country.
This “savior trump” is definitely more in your face than was the god given bush reign proclaimed by Barbara, but trump is a laughable joke by comparison to the damages inflicted on our country, our democracy, and on the world, by the bush presidency.

Sure, trump has caused great harms to our country and to the rule of law, but all was set in motion by bush, cheney and rove.

FDR’s middle class was destroyed by bush, nearly 1,000,000 people were murdered in his Forever Oil Wars and still the consequences of the man called “shrub” play out with the pending demise of Medicare.

And it’s not just bush, but conservatives have always since even before the time of Moses claimed that they were the only path back to some Great Again vision of the past.

It’s who they are.

I guess I'd forgotten that about Barbara, but I accept your memory. Otherwise, I agree save one quibble. "FDR’s middle class was destroyed by" many more evil and inattentive people than just Shrub over the past 43 years, sadly including the complicit Dems who sold the party out to corporate PACs and other fat cats.

Agreed, almost all are guilty, but there are those who were and still are, instrumental in destroying what we had - to my knowledge no dem has done anything to stop medicare Advantage from converting Medicare into private For Profit insurance.

To successfully "stop" Medicare Advantage? No, they haven't. However, several progressives like Bernie! have spoken out against it, and voted against it if given the chance. In the even bigger picture the ACA would look much different, and better, if not for insurance industry-beholden DINOs Baucus (MT), Lieberman (CT) and I think one other.

So very bad that we don’t have President Bernie.

I still see the aca as just another example of Obama the republican among us.

Here’s a long pre-Obama read with lots of interesting who done its

https://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothec ... ndate/amp/

“The individual mandate as an alternative to the employer mandate
There are five obvious, and large, problems with an employer mandate. The first is that an employer mandate massively drives up the cost of hiring new employees, discouraging new hiring and increasing unemployment. The second is that forcing employers to pay for health costs increases the costs of running a business”

“ The third problem is that an employer mandate does nothing to address the health needs of the unemployed. The fourth is that the employer-based system insulates consumers from the value of the health care they are paying for, giving them no incentive to economize, thereby driving up the cost of health insurance. The fifth is that the employer-based system leads to “job lock,”’

“Hence, some conservatives, seeking a more market-oriented path to universal coverage, began endorsing an individual mandate over an employer mandate. An individual mandate would address the “free rider” problem”

“With these considerations in mind, in 1989, Stuart Butler of the Heritage Foundation proposed a plan he called “Assuring Affordable Health Care for All Americans.” Stuart’s plan included a provision to “mandate all households to obtain adequate insurance,” which he framed explicitly as a way to address the “free rider” problem and employer mandates (emphasis added):”

According to this article evangelicals have changed, not more rightwing or more churchgoing, but more of a core political cult than ever before:

Trump Is Connecting With a Different Type of Evangelical Voter

Was this a sickophant misstep that will backfire on Dolt .45? Will his GQP opponents have the spine to push the issue?

Nope, the cowardly losers won't call out Dolt .45's messianic delusions.
