Boise man allegedly pointed gun at teens toilet-papering homes. He faces felony charges

... The boys told police that a 25-year-old man driving a tow truck pulled up next to their car with a gun and blocked them from moving.

The man allegedly threatened to shoot the boys if they didn’t get out of their car, according to the release. Police said he then grabbed the boys one by one and took turns pointing the handgun at them, and the man admitted to doing so, the release said.

The teens were released to the custody of their parents, according to the release. The man was charged with three counts of felony aggravated assault and was released from the Ada County Jail after posting a $75,000 bond.

... Another advocacy group, March For Our Lives, said that when it was founded in 2018 after a mass shooting at a Parkland, Florida, high school, the NRA “was an untouchable and seemingly all-powerful political juggernaut." Months later, the group sent a letter to the New York attorney general’s office raising questions about alleged financial misdeeds involving NRA executives, including LaPierre. The letter sparked the investigation that led to James' lawsuit.

“All it took was some meddling kids and a whole lot of determination to take down one of the largest and most powerful lobbying machines in American history,” March for Our Lives said in a statement....

Ban on guns in post offices is unconstitutional, US judge rules

A federal judge in Florida on Friday ruled that a U.S. law that bars people from possessing firearms in post offices is unconstitutional, citing a landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling from 2022 that expanded gun rights.

U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, an appointee of Republican former President Donald Trump in Tampa, reached that conclusion in dismissing part of an indictment charging a postal worker with illegally possessing a gun in a federal facility....

Children killing children, accidentally or intentionally, is especially sad.
Family Mourns 10-Year-Old Allegedly Killed By Boy Who Found Gun In His Father's Car
A child in California was taken into custody and accused of murder in connection with the shooting death of Keith Frierson.

The family of a 10-year-old California boy is mourning his loss after he was allegedly killed by another 10-year-old....

The boy who authorities say shot Keith has been arrested and charged with murder, while his father, 53-year-old Arkete Davis, is facing multiple charges including child endangerment.
They think it was intentional? Charging these ammosexual parents seems to be more frequent these days. Good. Murder, too?
... Detectives later found the gun in a nearby trash can and accused Davis of trying to “dispose of it.”

According to deputies, Davis was legally prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm due to a felony. The gun the 10-year-old allegedly found in Davis’ car was reported stolen in 2017.

“We cannot let this boy’s murder be a one-day news story and forgotten about by tomorrow morning,” (Sacramento County Sheriff Jim) Cooper said....
Good luck with that

A California man was found with 1 million rounds of ammo and 248 illegally owned guns in his house, state authorities say

Image

A man in Richmond, California, was arrested last month after authorities found an illegal cache of 248 guns and 1 million rounds of ammo in his home, the state attorney general said on Thursday.

Attorney General Rob Bonta said in a statement that the man, who was not named, was legally prohibited from owning guns in California.

Law-enforcement officials who searched the man's home on January 31 found 11 military-style machine guns, 133 handguns, 37 rifles, 60 assault rifles, seven shotguns, and 3,000 large-capacity magazines, Bonta said....

The man's home also contained 20 silencers and four flare guns, it said....

A video released by the attorney general's office showed part of what appears to be a small armory, replete with mounted, belt-fed machine guns, long-range caliber rifles, and dozens of ammunition crates.

Unauthorized possession of a machine gun is illegal in California, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US....
 Damn. I wonder what alerted the cops to him.

Flint man becomes first person charged under Michigan's new gun storage law

A Michigan man was charged Tuesday under the state's new law requiring safe storage of guns after his 2-year-old daughter shot herself in the head with his revolver the day after the law took effect.

The 44-year-old Flint man became the first person to be charged with violating the law that took effect on Feb. 13, Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said. The girl is hospitalized in critical condition....

The man faces charges including first-degree child abuse, a felony violation of Michigan’s gun storage law, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and lying to a police officer in a violent crime investigation.

Flint police learned of the shooting after the man took the girl to a hospital. They found two guns in the bedroom of the man's home: the revolver and a semiautomatic pistol. Both were unsecured and loaded. Police said they found no gun locks or safes in the bedroom.
Throw away the key.

‘You just don’t get it.’ Judge admonishes NY man who fatally shot woman in his driveway and sentences him to 25 years to life

Kevin Monahan was sentenced Friday to 25 years to life in prison for shooting and killing a woman who was a passenger in a car that mistakenly drove up his driveway in rural New York last year.

“I think you really could possibly do the same thing again,” Washington County Judge Adam Michelini admonished Monahan before imposing his sentence for second-degree murder. “It’s obvious to me that you feel justified. You don’t take any responsibility for the outcome of your actions. You just don’t get it.”

Additionally, MIchelini imposed a concurrent sentence of 2 1/3 to seven years in prison for reckless endangerment and a consecutive term of 1 1/3 to four years in prison for tampering with evidence.

Monahan was convicted last month in the April 2023 death of 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis, a passenger in a vehicle that Monahan shot at when it accidentally turned into his driveway while its occupants were looking for a friend’s house. Gillis died a short time after the shooting.

Prosecutors argued that the 66-year-old defendant acted recklessly....

About damn time. WTF took this long?

Biden to close ‘gun-show loophole’ and expand background checks for firearms
... The rule was issued under a provision of the (June) 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. It requires that anyone who sells guns for profit to have a license and that buyers be subject to a background check, including at firearms shows and flea markets. The administration had been working on the rule since last spring....
No explanation why it took 9 months to start work on the rule. Then:
They probably want it as lawsuit-proof as possible;
It's a good election year move.
