Bronze Stars and Bronze Stars

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Bronze Stars and Bronze Stars

Unread post by O Really »

The looneysphere is all agog at the soldier who got a Bronze Star for "creating a PowerPoint." They obviously don't have a clue that this award has more than one type of eligibility. The Bronze Star, with a "V for valor" is for combat heroism - that is, the traditional medal for doing something great. Without the "V" however, it doesn't take all that much to win. Maybe the looneysphere should complain about the rules, not the recipient.

Yup. More medals were given out than the number of troops who set foot on the island.

Granted, major battles have been won not because one side had better soldiers and weapons, but because they had better logistics. I have no problem with logistics people back home getting medals for their part in a campaign.
