Joe Maddon for President!!!
More than halfway done, good news/bad news:
http://scores.nbcsports.com/mlb/standings.asp

The Cubs are leading the NL Central by 2.5 games.

The Cubs are leading the NL Central with a .538 record, the worst division leader in MLB and tied for 9th best team in MLB. :silent:
The Cubs are doing their Sybil imitation this year, one month they're the Toledo Mud Hens, the next they're the Master's of the Universe. If they hold true, this should be a good month. Might be enough to make the playoffs with the rest of the division being what they are.
Eamus Catuli~AC 000000 000101 010202 020303 010304 020405....Ahhhh, forget it, it's gonna be a while.

As you know, HUGE series starting tonight, St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs, 4 games and Cubs are just 3 games behind the Cardinals. This first of the 4 is on Fox TV here, just started.

Good luck!

If they fall short, they're still just 1/2 game behind Milwaukee for the 2nd wild card slot and 1.5 games behind Washington. I like all 3 of those teams, but I'll be happy for you if the Cubs need the wild card and then get it.

Ah, no wonder they lost. :P

Another 1 run loss today :( . Now 5 games behind StL with only 5 head-to-head games left in the season, 3 in StL. Also 1.5 games behind Milwaukee for that 2nd wild card spot. Ut-oh.

Which movie?

Ouch, 7 straight loses = choke, elimination from the NL Central, elimination from the Wildcard unless it goes 5-0 and Milwaukee goes 0-5. Then, it's a playoff playoff, 3-way if the Mets also go 5-0.

Next year  .

2.5 stars, the upstairs story was pretty good, the downstairs story was pretty lame. Mostly happy endings, but it seemed like they were trying to fit a season into a two hour movie.

Cinematography and sets were outstanding.

And all good things come to an end.

https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/ ... joe-maddon

He's gonna be a legend in Chicago down the road. Probably wasn't the best X's & O's guy, his handling of the pitching staff and constant lineup shuffling didn't sit well with some. But a great guy and a great interview nonetheless.

Bring on David Ross.

What do you think? To ignorant me it seems like he earned at least 1 more year of slack.

Go:

AL

Athletics > Rays (tomorrow night) and everyone else.
If not, Yankees or Twins > all others.

NL

Nationals or Brewers (tonight) > everyone else.
If not, LA Dodgers.

Joe wasn't taking a one year deal, he'll land on his feet just fine. I'm guessing the Angels.

Go GNats, but their bullpen is miserable. Not really rooting for anyone, as lon g as the dreaded Yankees, the Cards (it's a cub thing) or Dodgers don't win I'm good.

Ah, makes sense. Gonna be an Angels fan?

The announcers remarked on how surprising it was that the bullpen came through  , even getting the win.

Go Nats.

That was an exciting 9th. Since I didn't care, I was going to root for ATL on your behalf. Then I heard that war chant. Go Cards!

Grr Bravos, grr grr Cards. Go GNats. Dodgers in an absolute pinch. I could cheer for the Twinkies, but mostly I'm a senior circuit guy.

I'm mostly a city-by-city guy, but I do like that the NL never adopted the DH. It feels more pure to me.

Other than going to a spring training game or so, I don't usually follow MLB until close to season end. But it would be cool to have a Dodgers-Yanks World Series again. Like way back in the day when I wore Yogi's 8.
