Where'd my picture go?

For some odd reason instead of just quoting me, which would have been easier, or using a reverse image search to find a smaller version, you resized my pic at an online website. They don't keep the image for you, so the only way to make it permanent is to download it to your computer and then upload it as an attachment - I think. Techies?

It was downloaded to my computer; I still have it in both sizes.
I downsized it so as not to take up so much space. I definitely ain't that techified though.

This is an example of what I asked Banni, and he wanted an example of.....

There's nothing wrong with banni's site. It makes no difference that you downloaded it to your computer, what you did was link to the resizing website rather than uploading the attachment from your computer.

Who cares about size, anyhow? You've gone to a lot of still ongoing and self-defeating effort when just hitting the quote button, or eliminating the pic since your post was only the 2nd one after mine, would have been just fine. As you can see, my original pic is still there.

I saw a story yesterday that the 1939 Alfa Romeo Mussolini gave to his mistress sold for several million bucks. It was the car they were both pulled from and shot while trying to make it to Switzerland. It was red, too.

Totally. Here in the USA, being rich just let's you ignore nearly every law. I'm sure that's not a coincidence.

the intent of fines is to sting until deterrence is understood
but then again, this in in one of them socialist countries that got no respect for the bible and they are always making sense too much to be trusted.

I'd go for the Dusenburg or the '32 Lincoln Custom Coupe. In either case, I would always wear my white suit and hat while driving.

That Dusenburg is magnificent, isn't it? A lot of the more exotic cars are fine if you're a billionaire collector, but probably are barely roadworthy since they were barely roadworthy when they were new. Yes, I'm talking about you, Mr. Porsche.

Yeah, the safety and performance aspects of either would be deficient for today's driving. But the elegance and grace of the styling is what draws me to those two. Not sure I get the dig on Porsche.....the 911 is basically unchanged since 1968 other than techno advances.

It would seem the person who wrote about the 911 must have had a bad experience with one. That model has been a whopping success for Porsche for decades. I'm no big enthusiast for Porsche or any particular brand, but I sure would like to have one of those Veyron cars. It would be zesty.

Here's a sorta car - sorta Alabama story for you -
A couple of lifetimes ago, the Lady Fair and I set off from Filthydelphia in our '77 Bimmer 2002, headed on a road trip to Mexico. We cruised along, stopping at places of interest, enjoying life. Until we got about halfway from Montgomery, AL to Mobile and the A/C went out with a poof. So we got to Mobile, and the next morning I set out to get some auto repair. Found as shop that worked on air conditioners and decided to give it a try. I was thinking, Oh shit - I'm in Alabama, in the middle of August, driving a BMW with Pennsylvania plates, a thousand miles and hundreds of years from home, and I've got air conditioning problems. I might as well just give him the car. So the guy works on the car for a while, then says the problem is the thermostat. I ask if there's a BMW dealer in town, and he says, "yeah, but it's the same part as a Volkswagen and half the price." So off he goes to get the part. Comes back, says neither the VW nor BMW dealers had the part in stock. So he puts in a switch. Says to run the A/C and when it starts to ice up, turn off the switch. Turn it back on a few minutes later. Says it's not perfect, but it'll get us back home. OKfine. What's the bill? He says, "just $7.50." I'm like, "Man, you worked on my car for three hours, ran after parts...that can't be right." He goes, "well, I didn't really fix it, and that's the cost of the part." I gave him $50 (which of course was more back then than now) and overwhelmed gratitude. His "work-around" worked fine all the way home, at which it cost me a couple hundred or so to get the "right part" installed in about a half hour.

I've been known for a few "Rube Goldberg" fixes in my time too.
(Note for the "politically correct"... I had never heard that term used until a few years back after I did some home repairs for a late good friend of mine who was a Jew.
He used to tell me I was a regular "Rube Goldberg" because he hasn't seen anything yet that I couldn't "fix".)
