Several people consider running against against Cawthorn for NC 11th District seat

There's a growing list of challengers interested in unseating Madison Cawthorn, the newly elected Republican to North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District. The primary for isn't until March 2022, but several people on both sides of the political aisle are expressing interest in running....

It’s not just Democrats interested. Republicans like Wendy Nevarez are also interested in unseating Cawthorn.

“At the end of the day, you can’t just go in and be a voter as a Congressperson. You have to be ready to present legislation that actually has some meat to it,” Nevarez said. “That’s not something that he has done yet."

“And there are rumors, of course, that Chuck Edwards might want to run for the seat, as well,” Cooper said.

Cooper said the 11th District, even with a coming impact from redistricting, is still a very Republican stronghold. He said a Democratic win would be an uphill battle....
