Big Ben's Pittsburgh swan song.

He's had a good run.

Canton awaits.
TD!!!

TV guys said #257 and he's 3rd for career passing touchdowns leaders, but it's really 8th with 417.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_N ... ns_leaders
Maybe I misheard what stat they were referring to. Idk what 257 would be.

Ironic and a little sad that both QBs sucked.
Baker Mayfield QBRat 53.1
Ben Roethlisberger QBRat 56.3

Oh well, I'm glad that Ben got the home win.

I'll be pissed if the voters ignore that he's Lying Kaaron and make him MVP. Threats to public health should never be deemed "Valuable".

Since you actually watched the game you would know better than me, but it looks like Pittsburgh still has a shot at the playoffs. Miami and even Baltimore, too.

Any number of next week's games will affect seeding. I'm not going to list them all.

NFC
The NFC West winner vs Wildcard slot is still to be decided. I THINK that if Arizona > Seattle AND LA Rams < San Francisco, Arizona gets it. All other scenarios and the LA Rams get it.
I like both teams, BUT:
With Philadelphia already qualifying, the only fully undecided NFC Wildcard slot is San Francisco vs New Orleans. I THINK that if New Orleans > Atlanta AND San Francisco < LA Rams, New Orleans gets it. All other scenarios and San Francisco get it.
I like both teams, but prefer San Francisco. So, go San Francisco > LA Rams AND/OR Atlanta > New Orleans.

AFC
Indianapolis, LA Traitors and LV Traitors are vying for two Wildcard slots, with the LV Traitors being the current tiebreaker loser. I want the LV Traitors in and don't much care between Indianapolis and the LA Traitors.
LA Traitors vs LV Traitors is huge, the winner is in. Then, I THINK that the loser needs Indianapolis < Jacksonville 2-14 in order to get in, and that may not even be enough for the LV Traitors if they lose. So, go LV Traitors > LA Traitors.

Caveat: Games I haven't mentioned might affect tiebreakers.
https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/standings/
Pittsburgh (playing Baltimore), Miami (playing New England) and Baltimore all want to win.
Everyone wants Indianapolis to lose (yeah, right). It controls its own destiny.
An LA Traitors - LV Traitors tie will help Pittsburgh out, depending on tiebreakers. Barring a tie, they both control their own destiny, the winner is in.
Too many tiebreak situations for me to sort out. I'll leave it to the media to tell us who still has a shot and how.

In descending order I prefer:
Baltimore
Pittsburgh
LV Traitors
Miami
Indianapolis
LA Traitors

T.J. Watt had four of the nine (!) sacks of Baker Mayfield last night.
https://sports.yahoo.com/monday-night-f ... 26743.html
... Watt’s four sacks give him 21.5 sacks for the season, which puts him just one sack behind the NFL record of 22.5 by Michael Strahan in the 2001 season with the New York Giants.
Without even a hint of snarkiness Strahan just said on GMA, paraphrased: "It's so hard to get a sack that I wish him the best no matter how many games."

I thought that it was a funny and subtle cut given that Watt will have an extra, 17th game to seize the record in. Anyhow:
Watt is the first Steelers player with four sacks in a game since Joey Porter had four against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2001. He is the third player this season to have at least four sacks in a game, joining Myles Garrett of the Browns (4.5 vs. Chicago) and Chandler Jones of the Arizona Cardinals (5.0 against Tennessee)....

Leaking reports say the team formerly known as "Redskins" will become the "Admirals." Isn't that special? Making the announcement on Feb 2 - they'd be better off to be the "Groundhogs."

That's awful.
They might as well have gone with the Generals, then they could be the rightfully named perennial football punching bag just like their basketball brethren.

AP Contact the Newsroom
Hi,

Please do NOT even consider giving Kaaron Rodgers the 2021 MVP or any other award. He is a liar and a public health hazard, and should not be considered "valuable" by any standard. Honoring him would be slap in the face to the families of 850K dead Americans, and to hundreds of millions of honest living Americans. It will not reflect well on the AP, the NFL, sports in general or sportsmanship.

Just don't do it!

Sincerely,
(Vrede too)

 Mike Florio writes like he has personal ownership of the definition of "valuable". In reality, the voters get to apply any criteria they wish, and I'm hoping that a bunch are like Hub Arkush. What do you think?

Not a clue.

Guess I'd have to know who the fifty voters are.

Sorry I was unclear. I meant what do you want those voters to do?

I saw that you linked and then removed this:

Awww.

Plenty of history of sportswriters pissing on athletes who've cheated or bad character, especially the MLB hof. Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, Schilling.

Guess I'd want to get into the heads of his contemporaries, he and his ego definitely put himself before the team but it ultimately didn't cost them anything (what if it had? -0-? ). They lost a game but are the #1 seed.

It's despicable but does it overshadow what he did on the field?

Dunno, but I'd definitely be looking for other worthy candidates and probably vote for them especially as he's already won a couple and it's an easy out and justifiable.

It doesn't always have to be a QB.
Tom Brady, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Dak Prescott, Joe Burrow and Matthew Stafford are also in the running.
I'd prefer RB Jonathan Taylor, WR Cooper Kupp or getting really radical with DE T.J. Watt.
