I'm not grossed out by it and I appreciate that it makes a cute video, but as O Really says 99% of owners would have shut it down the first time. Setting limits is important.

Kimberly Guilfoyle Floats Wild Theory About Kristi Noem’s Dog-Killing Admission
Donald Trump Jr.'s fiancée said it "makes no sense" before throwing out the wild idea.
... “I don’t know what happened, maybe somebody slipped that in and she didn’t see it. I don’t know, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, so that’s a tough one to take.”
Opps. The theory seems unlikely, though, given how Noem has since doubled down on the admission, spinning it as proving her decisive leadership skills and ability to do difficult things when needed....

Consider that all books get editor review. It seems very unlikely that somebody along the way didn't say "ummm, Kristi, maybe that story isn't going to help" and she must have insisted it be included. Idiot.

Not that I care how deep she gets, but you'd think somebody would remind Kristi that when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.
