My guess - guess - is that the rate of unionization in WNC hospitals is so low that even if they went on strike it would be a couple of days before anybody missed them.
Hence, "I'm not saying this will happen in WNC". Yeah, it would take thing getting bad enough for a wildcat or ad hoc walkout. Possible, but very unlikely.

, but Pardee's not private. It used to be County owned and is now part of the UNC system. AFAIK staff are happy there. Otoh, we do have a local private for-profit outfit which is the subject of staff and patient complaints and even state sanctions - Mission/HCA.
