Wonder how many NFL prognosticators had a Seahawks/Patriots Superbowl pick in August? 😆
I wonder how many gamblers made that huge payout bet.

So my Raiders have the top pick in the draft. Hubby says we should trade the pick for more picks and build a stronger roster - and then find our franchise QB.

I say that we should draft Fernando Mendoza, and then build the roster around him. You don't get a chance to draft top QBs every year.

(What came first, the chicken or the egg?)

Either way, we're not expecting miracles right away. I'd settle for a solid step in the right direction.

Hi Jasmine - howyabeen?
Either way has its risks, but you do have an example of your way in the Jags. Trevor Lawrence was pretty much a bust for a couple of years but when they got the rest of the organization behind him, he started living up to his former hype.

Good luck to the Raiders, whatever they do. They're a storied francise that deserves better than they've got now

-0-? This year's SB features a 23 year old 2nd year QB and castoff veteran Sam Darnold. Then, my Lamar Jackson has yet to win a Playoff game. How do you draw solid conclusions from that?

Yeah it's got to be the total combination, which of course has thousands of possible variations. A great qb can make mediocre players better, but not necessarily as good as need be. Mahomes/Kelce couldn't do it by themselves, and if 49ers hadn't lost so many players they might have been in the big game. No guarantees no matter what you do.

But if it were me, I'd probably take the name qb to get some fan enthusiasm and then draft/trade/develop to his strengths. Build the rest of the team first and then bring in the superstar means either ss will have to adapt or the team will have to be rebuilt, again.

Of course, expecting a guy in his first year to carry the whole burden is a bit of an ask which probably few could do.

-0-? I don't understand the "catching strays" joke and Idk whether he really believes protestors are paid or was just riffing off the conspiracy theory. We've joked here about our Soros money and saying something about "hazard pay" while freezing my butt off is exactly the kind of dumb joke I would make. His timing did suck and he apologized for that. We'll see how long he's gone and whether it comes with a pay reduction.

Hey O Really!

Trevor Lawrence is an excellent example! It took a coach like Liam Cohen to maximize his potential. But I suspect Lawrence has more raw ability than Fernando.

There's a few #1 picks that have been ruined or almost ruined by having a poor supporting cast and/or a poor coaching staff.

I don't question that Belichick deserves a spot in the HOF, but he was always such a pompous ass that I don't mind seeing him taken down a notch by not getting in first ballot.

Great granddaughter now that he's Appalachia-adjacent.

The serial cheating may have also led voters to question how deserving BB is, at least on the first ballot. I'll bet it's never unanimous.

Is DonOLD's hair on fire, or is it just a tacky gold decoration?

 GoSeahawksGo
Early Seahawks demand, late arriving Patriots fans, patient buyers shaping Super Bowl's $5,000 tickets

The ticket resale market is finally giving up some secrets about Super Bowl LX.

The early trend of buyers is shaping the crowd into a Seattle Seahawks home game. The New England area buyers have been slower to the table than their counterparts. And thus far, fans in general appear to be adhering to last season’s doctrine of patience when it comes to buying — which could send prices for the cheapest tickets even lower as we approach the weekend....

Heading into Wednesday morning, Gametime’s cheapest get-in ticket was $4,892 (including fees), while its most expensive ticket was a 10th row lower bowl seat behind the Seahawks’ bench for $39,041. Average ticket prices across multiple platforms have ranged in the $9,000 range (including fees) heading into Wednesday morning — which is nearly double the average price the last time the Seahawks and Patriots met in Super Bowl XLIX in 2015....
Where do they find so many people able and willing to pay those prices?
When contrasting sales from the Portland/Seattle area to the Boston/New England areas, Gametime reported an early Seahawks sales lean of 5.5 to 1....
With get-in prices sinking to as low as $2,600 to $2,700 (before fees) late in the week for last year’s Super Bowl buyers, that stable trend and some patience could be good news for fans who appear to be once again willing to wait. For now, brokers are watching closely.
Still way too rich for me. Don't these people have TVs and bars?
Super Bowl 60 odds, betting: 1 bettor hedges Seahawks futures bet potentially worth $3 million to guarantee multimillion-dollar profit
A BetMGM bettor made $150,000 worth of futures bets on Seattle back in August

Despite Seattle's preseason win total of 8.5 (-125 to the under at BetMGM) and the 12th-best odds to make the postseason in the NFC (+170) before the season began, one bettor loved the Seahawks to not only make the playoffs and win the NFC but also win Super Bowl LX....

The three bets:

$50,000 on the Seahawks to win Super Bowl 60 at 60-1 odds to win $3 million

$50,000 on the Seahawks to win the NFC at 28-1 odds to win $1.4 million

$50,000 on the Seahawks to make the playoffs at +185 odds to win $92,500

The Seahawks clinched a postseason berth a few weeks ago to win the first $50,000 bet and beat the 49ers 13-3 in Week 18 to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

After Seattle's victory over the Rams on Jan. 25, that bettor cashed his second ticket worth $1.4 million.
The bettor is already up $1.34 million even if Seattle loses.
The $50,000 wager on Seattle to win Super Bowl 60 currently carries the largest liability of any reported NFL futures wager at U.S. sportsbooks, after a $50,000 bet at 66-1 odds on the Chicago Bears to win Super Bowl 60 came up short when the Bears fell 20-17 to the Rams in overtime at home in the divisional round.
Tough break, Chicago Dog. ;)
The bettor recently came back in on the other side to hedge his Seahawks bet, wagering $725,000 on the New England money line at +195 odds at BetMGM. That bet would win more than $1.4 million and ensures that the bettor will win roughly $1.5 million on the Super Bowl and be up nearly $3 million on all his wagers — no matter the outcome of the big game.

Yahoo Sports also confirmed Circa Sports in Nevada took two large wagers on the Seahawks at 75-1 odds to win Super Bowl 60 with "seven-figure liability" from a new customer in late August and that Seattle is the sportsbook's worst futures outcome as a result.
 Congrats, Lady O. ;)
