The Music Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

MAGA must be throwing a Super Bowl sized fit that Bad Bunny had three wins, including Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos, becoming the first Spanish-language album to receive the honor. MAGA whining may have even helped him win. Pooor pooor bigots.

Just 6 days until the big game. Billions will watch while the viewership for EriKa KirK's White alternative half time show will be pathetic. Wiki doesn't even mention it.
:---P
Debí Tirar Más Fotos translates as 'I Should Have Taken More Photos'. There's no song by that name on the album, so I'm going to guess that the title is meant both literally and metaphorically, ironically a sentiment that I believe all of us of any political persuasion share.

In case y'all ever DJ a funeral -

What song is inappropriate to play at a funeral?
AI Overview

Inappropriate funeral songs often have lyrics about death, the devil, or are overly celebratory, making them unsuitable for a somber occasion. Examples include "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen, "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC, and "Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead". Other examples are songs like "Stayin' Alive," "Happy," and "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," due to their upbeat or thematically unfitting nature.

Songs about death or the afterlife

"Another One Bites the Dust": by Queen
"Highway to Hell": by AC/DC
"Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead": from The Wizard of Oz
"(Don't Fear) The Reaper": by Blue Öyster Cult
"Death on Two Legs": by Queen
"I'm Not Gonna Miss You": by Glen Campbell

Songs with a celebratory or dismissive tone

"Happy": by Pharrell Williams
"Best Day of My Life": by American Authors
"I Will Survive": by Gloria Gaynor
"Stayin' Alive": by Bee Gees
"It's Too Late To Apologize": by Timbaland ft. OneRepublic
"Always Look on the Bright Side of Life": by Monty Python

Songs with potentially offensive lyrics

"Fuck Off and Die": by Green Day
"She's a Bitch": by Missy Elliott
"I Don't Give a F*: "** by Tupac

:D

I want "Highway to Hell" and "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" played at my funeral.
"Celebration" by Kool & the Gang
"Goodbye to You" by Scandal
"Bye Bye Bye" by NSYNC
Wildflower - Billie Eilish

Turnstile is an American rock band from Baltimore, Maryland, formed in 2010....
GoMDGo

Guitarist Meg Mills is from East London, UK, O Really.
... Their fourth album Never Enough was released in 2025 and charted in the top 10 of five countries, including the U.S. The album received five Grammy nods as Turnstile became the first band to be nominated in the rock, alternative, and metal categories in the same year. The band took home the Grammy's for Best Metal Performance for their song "Birds" and Best Rock Album on February 1, 2026.

 Not my flavor, but good on them for winning.

I can see why Meg Mills would be invited, but what happened to "all American"? Isn't she a furriner and maybe ILLEGAL?

It's "an American rock band". No one said "all American" or "all Maryland". Baltimore clearly captured a talented Brit. America wins, again. You might know better than me but I have the impression that artists with jobs have no trouble getting unlimited work visas.

Yes, but since immigration laws are being made up as they go along and currently enforced only against Brown people, I'd say anybody who looks like her is safe.

So, don't put 'reggae' or 'mariachi' band on the visa application.

Will Kid Rock be singing his song “Cool, Daddy Cool”? The song is featured on the 2001 soundtrack for the movie Osmosis Jones and … well, folks … the lyrics are something else as a whole, but the real issue comes in Verse 3.

“Young ladies, young ladies, I like ‘em underage,” Rock sings on the track. “See some say that’s statutory.”

His sidekick at the time, the late Joe-C then chimes in, “But I say it’s mandatory.”
