I just go outside and shout "WHAT IS IT?" and pretty soon someone will say "Saturday...October....twice" and that pretty much calms me down.

Do they really say "Saturday...October....twice" once, or do they say "Saturday...October" twice?neoplacebo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 6:13 pmI just go outside and shout "WHAT IS IT?" and pretty soon someone will say "Saturday...October....twice" and that pretty much calms me down.

Re: Dumb headlines thread
Yes, I had to go over it a couple of times but now everybody knows what's expected; for yesterday they would answer WHAT IS IT? with Saturday (for the day), October (for the month), and twice (for the second day of the month). Only the 1st and 2nd days of the month can be called out as "once" or "twice" but all other days just require the number itself. For today, WHAT IS IT? would be "Sunday....October....3."Vrede too wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 12:41 amDo they really say "Saturday...October....twice" once, or do they say "Saturday...October" twice?neoplacebo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 6:13 pmI just go outside and shout "WHAT IS IT?" and pretty soon someone will say "Saturday...October....twice" and that pretty much calms me down.

That's totally acceptable as long as your enunciation is clear....one would not wish to hear "thrice" as "twice" and thus be a day off.Vrede too wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 9:59 amDoh . Taliban release decree saying women must consent to marriage
I read it to mean that women no longer have a choice, but it's actually the opposite.

Re: Dumb headlines thread
Good grief - why feed the Q-trolls? This headline is dumb only because of its conspiracy-feeding implications:
"Record-Breaking Omicron Is Now So Bad in U.K. Even the Queen Has Canceled Christmas"
No, the Queen didn't cancel Christmas. She canceled a Christmas party. Using "cancel" and "Christmas" in the same sentence is garon-teed to bring out some village idiots with their torches and pitchforks.

It's the same kind of crazy shit that's going on in TN. I expect to be arrested in about nine hours (3am) over that nice note I sent that crazy TN state legislator. He's probably spitting mad and experiencing tremors that make the body go stiff for a brief time. He'll get over it.

Re: Dumb headlines thread
My name, email address, street address, and phone number are all in the email I sent that stupid bastard. I made no explicit threats and am in no danger unless Kent elects to send someone here in an "unofficial" capacity, in which case I will be happy to consult with them. See, these morons take it for granted that all their constituents are ignorant. Even though I am not one of his constituents, I wanted to make sure he knows about me in the likely futile hope that he will stop being a wingnut. And as far as I know, the TN state house sergeant at arms has no authority outside the house chamber. I'll kick his ass.Ulysses wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 9:28 pmIf you post your street address here I'll make sure the Tennessee state legislature Sargeant at arms gets it.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 6:21 pmIt's the same kind of crazy shit that's going on in TN. Does this mean we're not going to have leftovers anymore? That's what we've been feeding them for over 20,000 years.
I didn't read the article; the headline was too dumb.
