The actors in films like "Grease" and "Glee" looked youthful for their age (e.g. Anna Kendrick at 36) and given the costuming and context could be believable if you didn't look too close. Unless you were looking at ONJ, in which case you could look as close as you like and she'll still look good.

One of the 20th Century's greats. Few others could have overseen the (mostly) peaceful collapse of the USSR and Iron Curtain. Certainly a superior leader to Reagan and Daddy Shrub, with whom he shared the world stage. RIP.

Too bad that Putin has now wrecked much of the peaceful democracy that Gorbachev helped build.

It's a sad though not unexpected day. I've got close family and other ties to England, but I didn't really expect it to affect me personally. Turns out I was wrong - Elizabeth's death feels like losing a family member.

I'm glad she made it to her 70th Jubilee in June and was healthy enough to appreciate the huge celebration of her reign.

TV news says that she met with 13 POTUSes, missing only LBJ. It didn't say whether there was friction or if it was just happenstance. I'll bet that he limited his foreign travel bc of Vietnam.
