Way too long. How hard could it be? They're just dragging feet.
Some deep-pocketed sports fan ought to sponsor a competing tournament.
Change is scary.

"after" - immediately after, sometime after, neverafter?
I'll take neverafter for $500 Alex.

We have to protect ... —we have to protect all of these people that came up with originally ... the wheel, and all of these things,

We want to cherish those people. That’s very important.

After last season, there were 40 bowl games - all of the teams scheduled after the end of November. That's less than a month to juggle all teams who managed to have almost winning records into a bowl game, and for all teams to prepare to play a new opponent and travel to East Bumphuck for the Dental Floss Bowl. So really - how hard could it be to schedule a tournament among the top 25 teams. You'd get to the championship game in about half what they're doing now. And they could still run a NIT-type consolation show for the also-rans.

The FCS is a mix of conference champs and at large slots. So, most but not all of the top 24 get in. Disappointing for the bubble losers, but it's almost certain that the best in the nation is among the 24. I don't have a problem with this system, though if they want to someday expand to 32 teams that's fine. It wouldn't even add a week of games, just more games the first week.

I doubt that there would be an NIT-type tourney, but they could retain as many bowls as they wanted for the also-rans.

RIP Lionel - you sure were fun to watch

https://247sports.com/college/auburn/Ar ... 183457253/

"Former Auburn and NFL running back Lionel James passed away Friday from a "lengthy illness" at the age of 59"

"James was a team captain, and was part of one of the best running-back trios in program history with Bo Jackson and Tommy Agee. They combined for 2,518 rushing yards and 24 total touchdowns.

"Pound for pound one of the greatest all-purpose players to play the game of football," Agee said Friday in a statement. "Always put the team first. He was one of the reasons why I came to Auburn."

A fifth-round pick in 1984, James played five seasons with the San Diego Chargers. In his second pro season, he set what was then the NFL record for all-purpose yards with 2,535, and receiving yards by a running back with 1,027."

Everybody called him Little Train and Tommy Agee was Big Train
And with Bo Jackson, they made for a hell of a backfield.

"After retiring from the league, James graduated from Auburn in 1989"

It's a little amazing how many come back and finish school after the NFL

When I was a kid, we had HO Gilbert model trains. Sadly, when we moved, we had to leave them all behind.

There's a great hardware store in Berkeley, on Milvia and University Avenue, next door to the UCB campus, with model trains running on elevated tracks about 15 feet above the main floor. The staff keep them running most of the time the store is open (and probably when it's closed, too!).

Yeah, but has anyone recorded a goofy song about it?

In the grocery today, I saw somebody who was wearing an Auburn shirt with WEAGLE on the back. I guess that's a contraction of "War Eagle"? Is that a new thing or just a California invention?

I think it was this one - There are a lot of "Weagle Weagle" shirts for sale. Funny I'd never heard of it before, given billy.p's affinity for all things Auburn.

I thought it was throughly discussed on this thread on 8/29/2015, but yeah, it was a cheer originated in the 70s. My favorite AU shirt has the the cheer on the back.

Ah, back in the pre-Trump halcyon days of yore. Long time ago, now.
Anyway, it was the first time I'd seen the shirt in the wild.
