What schools have hall monitors, if they still do? Doesn't seem like it would be high school. Middle school? Elementary? What would a hall monitor do to be obnoxious? I guess I missed the experience. In middle school (Jr. High at the time) teachers hung out in the hallway to keep kids from mugging each other, but I don't recall them being any more obnoxious than their normal self would have been in class.

I don't begrudge his going for a two-fer, but another playoff loss or even not making the playoffs would highlight a decline. Instead, he goes out pretty much still on top, with everyone knowing that he was capable of another SB win if he wanted.

It might have been a really bad dream, but I'm pretty sure I read there was some consideration of Jim Harbaugh to take Pete's job. Arrrrgh!

All talk for now.

If Brady doesn't retire ESPN is gonna have a lot of egg on their face. All morning has been a Brady tribute/funeral.

Guessing they wouldn't do this if they weren't pretty darn sure.

The NFL is going to have a real hard time duplicating last week's excitement.

Just hope they're not blowouts.

My picks.

LA by 10.
KC by 6.

I'll be rooting for the Bengals but think a LA/KC Superbowl will be a better game.

You may be right, and the Rams are the consensus pick, but they haven't beat the Niners in 6 games, going back to 10/19, two of those this season. Matters not to me, but I think I'll go with the Niners just for sport.

Other game, meh. I like Mahomes, but nothing much else about KC. Maybe I'll root for Bengals just because they haven't been there lately, but I'll go with the KC prediction.

Gotta root for the team that hasn't yet won the big one.

Why doesn't LA seem to care about the Rams like SF cares about the 49ers? I have a few theories.

Because LA Rams fans are pussies?
As soon as the Los Angeles Rams clinched a spot in the NFC championship game, the text messages started flooding in.

My Bay Area friends were already making plans to come down to LA (where I live) for round three of 49ers-Rams. They’re going all out: nice hotels, daytime parties on Saturday, legit seats at SoFi Stadium on Sunday. These folks seriously care about their team and this game, and many already traveled to Dallas and Green Bay over the last few weeks. Their energy for the Niners is that of most NFL fan bases: manic.

And then there are Rams fans. I do know some Rams fans going to the game on Sunday, albeit mostly for the “scene” (on a related note, Super Bowl party/activation invites are already going like prom tickets). Otherwise, though, I haven’t heard much about people in LA looking forward to the game. That’s admittedly my anecdotal experience, but it’s backed by hard numbers: estimates from ticket resellers indicate there are likely to be more Niners fans than Rams fans this Sunday at SoFi.

So the question is, why? Why don’t LA sports fans seem to care as much as other NFL fan bases? Why does SoFi Stadium try to limit ticket sales to the Greater Los Angeles region, a strategy that always backfires? Why do we love the Dodgers and Lakers and a competitive USC team more than we love our very good pro football team?

Rams aren't woven into the culture like the Niners are. They left LA in 95 and for 20 years were the team of some obscure town in the midwest. They've been back for 6 years, but didn't bring any history. So they're the "new team" for the younger people, and the older people haven't forgiven them for leaving in 95. And LA isn't as impressed with getting an NFL team like other places that get a new team. No instant loyalty. Kids that were maybe 10 when the Rams came back will be the rabid fans in 10 years.

Underdogs went 3-1, as did I. Low seeds rule!

NFL Odds - Playoff Las Vegas Odds & Betting, 1/30
Cincinnati @ Kansas City -7
San Francisco @ L.A. Rams -3½

Odds To Win Super Bowl 56 (2/13/22) (descending)
(2) Kansas City Chiefs, slightly ahead of:
(4) Los Angeles Rams
(6) San Francisco 49ers
(4) Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals are the Rodney Dangerfield of the playoffs, which has worked out for them so far.

The Rams and Raiders have become the NFL's version of carpetbaggers. Guessing the Raiders didn't have a very rabid following in LA also.

KC fans need to stop that chant before they find themselves on the pointy end of the pitchforks recently vacated by the team formerly known as Redskins.

The Niners have been a San Francisco fixture since 1946.

That is the difference, as both O Really and GoCubsGo say. Your own link says the same thing, but you chose not to quote it. Asking if it's "Because LA Rams fans are pussies?" is just sheer NFL ignorance.
