Well that's depressing.

Especially as it may be against Da Bears on SNF.

Packers can overtake Bears as NFL’s all-time winningest franchise in Week Two

Must have been written by a Packers fan. It could have read:

Bears can maintain dominance as NFL’s all-time winningest franchise in Week Two vs Packers

I've got your back.

This is also depressing:
Former Cowboy Marion Barber III died of heat stroke, according to medical report

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber III died of heat stroke, according to a medical report released on Monday.

The Collin County medical examiner's office ruled Barber's death accidental in a report issued to USA Today and other media outlets. Barber was found dead in his Frisco, Texas home on June 1 when police arrived to conduct a welfare check. A Frisco police incident report obtained by USA Today states that officers were called to the scene when a neighbor reported water leaking from Barber's apartment.

Per the medical report, officers arrived to Barber's apartment to find a bathtub faucet running and the thermostat set to 91 degrees. Police also found workout equipment in the apartment.

"Mr. Barber was known to exercise in sauna-like conditions," the coroner wrote in Monday's report....

Barber "was known to have a history of medical problems and mental health concerns," according to the police report. He was taken by police to a hospital for mental health evaluation in 2014, three years after his final season playing in the NFL.

Barber played seven seasons in the NFL, six of them with the Dallas Cowboys. He played his final season in 2011 with the Chicago Bears....

Barber II told the Star-Telegram in June that the family would not seek CTE testing on his son's brain.
:( RIP

Shame on the bunch of them. Shame on dumping the perfectly good and legendary "Three Rivers Stadium" name 20 years ago. Now shame on Heinz for bailing on their sponsorship, and shame on the stadium owners for setting a greedy price. "Acrisure Stadium" my ass.

Surprise - Jerry Jones has offended some people.
https://www.totalprosports.com/2022/07/ ... amp-video/

Sure "midget" is considered derogotory, but refusing to print the word as a quote and using "m-word"? Seriously? Eventually we'll run out of letters and start have to say "the ni word." And then we'll be in trouble.

Don't be small about this. ;)

To be fair,
"Dallas Cowboys" is offensive to the entire country and even some of Texas.
"Jerry Jones" is offensive to the entire country and even much of Dallas.

Remember the MG Little Person?

I'd agree that it's a short distance from descriptive to derogotory, but even tiny differences can create at least a low level trauma for diminutive individuals.

Seahawks sell Wilson down the river, 49ers bench Garappolo - I'm thinking Rams are a happy bunch.

"AP sources: Browns QB Deshaun Watson suspended for 6 games"

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/news/a ... li=AAggNb9

It occurred to me that in this case and others, it is clear that NFL players are held to higher ethical and behavioural standards than cops. Watson behaved badly and settled a bunch of civil suits but was not criminally indicted. He still gets a 6-game suspension, which many think is way too light.
Yet a cop who behaves badly but is not criminally convicted usually walks with no significant repercussion.

It's not a rational world.

A little more info:

"the NFL pushed for an indefinite suspension of at least one year"
I'd be interested in reading Disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson's rationale.

"Disciplinary officer" would be a good title for a dominatrix.

Hubba, hubba. I've been a baaad boy. :o

Maybe if cops had to self-fund through selling merch? :) It's harder to appeal to mass consumers than it is to bully a few pols.

I think the league and teams are within their rights, legal as well as practical, to discipline players for behaving in a way that reflects badly on the league/team. The league's all about money and they need happy-ish fans as part of the money stream. It's easy to see from examples like Michael Vick how the wrath of fans can affect operations. And I don't think it should require an actual criminal conviction to discipline the players. I just think it's a sad commentary on society that the favoritism toward cops is so blatant when one might expect that it's the cops to be held to the high standard.

Not that I defend Deshaun Watson or object to 6 games or a year, but:

Second week of NFL pre-season and nobody here has mentioned it.
Seahawks have apparently decided to sit this season out, I haven't forgiven the Chargers, despise the management of the team formerly known as the 'Skins, am ambivalent about the Iggles. Maybe I'll go for the Rams this year, at the risk of being called a bandwagon-jumper.
Or maybe I'll spend Sundays on a trail or at the beach. Yawn

The NFL preseason may be whispered but it's hardly worth a mention these days.

I may join you on the trail or beach. I still have the Lions to hopefully look down to but even that's marginal this year.

Go Bucs! Oh wait, Brady has disappeared and not expected to be heard from for a couple of weeks.

WTF is that about?

You're not the only one.

Tom Brady and Gisele Rock Rumor Reports With Impending Divorce, But Here's the Truth

There are a ton of "authoritative" articles that don't have a clue what's going on. I'll go with clearing out the documents he was keeping stashed for TRE45ON and disposing of all of his MAGA gear.

That's the kind of QB you want in GB, right?

GB @ SF, 14-20, End of 3rd
13/24, 176 Yds, 2 TD, 3 Int, 66.0 QBRat
Ouch. Danny Etling?

Nate Sudfeld? Trey Lance?
