Can't make this (stuff) up

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I want her to get a job in Ron Johnson's office. I also want a black bucket and some bread knives laid out next to her desk.

In the line of good (stuff) you can't make up, the mostly annual bioluminescence is back along the beaches. You look at the pictures and think, naa, it's just the lighting, but no - the surf really glows a beautiful blue.

It's not there everywhere, every night, but it's there often enough in enough places that it's not hard to find.

Yes, I've seen bioluminescence up here, too. A few decades ago. Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I didn't realize it's a winter phenomenon.

It's here most years - early spring. You can find spots where it will be at night by looking for the red tide algae bloom in the daytime.

Trying here to remember where and when I saw it up here.

Maybe google?

Found it. I had a summer job up by there in college... long long time ago (about 40 years)...

"Meanwhile, north of San Francisco at Point Reyes National Seashore, Tomales Bay is a dependable spot for bioluminescence and you can go out on guided trips with Blue Waters Kayaking."

Awww. :violin: , Useless. So much for "Ignored". You fail again. Plus, Useless, you've been busted too many times for anyone to believe you're not reading my posts, anyhow. It's just your excuse for cowering. Awww.

A Search Begins for the Wreck Behind an Epic Tale of Survival

A century after Ernest Shackleton’s ship Endurance sank in the waters of Antarctica, resulting in one of the greatest survival stories in the history of exploration, a team of modern adventurers, technicians and scientists is setting sail to find the wreck....

Endurance is also one of the most famous shipwrecks, perhaps on par with the Titanic. It’s a relic of the heroic age of Antarctic exploration, when adventurers undertook elaborate, risky and wildly popular expeditions to the continent and the pole. Some, like Roald Amundsen, succeeded. Others, like Robert Falcon Scott, died in the process.

Shackleton failed to achieve his goal, but when he returned to Britain having saved all his crew after an epic open-boat journey across treacherous seas, he was hailed as a hero. He’s still lionized today, in books, films and even business school courses, where the expedition is considered a case study in effective leadership....
It's an incredible tale. Many books have been written about it. This one is excellent, I've heard it's the best but idk:

Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage
They found it!

Ernest Shackleton’s Legendary Lost Ship Endurance Discovered After 107 Years
The ship is in nearly pristine condition at a depth of almost 2 miles.

The stern of the Endurance with the name and emblematic polestar
... Much of the expedition was documented by photographer, Frank Hurley, who captured haunting images of Endurance trapped in the ice:

This image was taken by Hurley during the winter of 1915, using 20 flashlights to create a 'spectre ship' effect, Antarctica, 1915.
Several other amazing pics from today and during the expedition at the link.

 I've been in the Southern Ocean, which is harsh and miserable. Even after reading the detailed account I can't wrap my head around how everyone survived with 1915 clothing and gear, including an 800 mile voyage in a lifeboat.

Maybe the local Grand Auto was out of jack stands that day.

However even jack stands might not have been a great idea there.

He really needs some sort of ramp or lift setup for a rig that big.

Or at least do the work on a firm, paved surface.
