Totally cool tool here. Gives you the chances of encountering somebody with covid in every county of the US, assuming attendance at an event of 10, 25, or 100 people.

Is methanol hazardous?
Yes, methanol is a hazardous chemical that is highly flammable and toxic. Methanol must be properly stored, transported and used by people that have been properly trained in its handling. Methanol is extremely toxic to humans if ingested or if vapors are inhaled. Direct exposure to methanol should be avoided, as methanol can be harmful if swallowed, absorbed through the skin, or inhaled. Ingestion of as little as one to four ounces can cause irreversible injury to the nervous system, blindness or even death.

Methanol can cause poisoning, systemic acidosis, optic nerve damage and central nervous system (CNS) effects. Methanol can also degrease the skin, which may cause dermatitis. Symptoms of acute methanol exposure may include headache, weakness, drowsiness, nausea, difficult breathing, drunkenness, eye irritation, blurred vision, loss of consciousness, and possibly death. Patients may improve and then get worse again up to 30 hours later.

People are dying after drinking hand sanitizer, CDC says

...

Six seizures, four deaths

In late June, CDC received notification from public health officials and partners in Arizona and New Mexico about methanol poisoning linked with the ingestion of hand sanitizers.

CDC researchers and their partners in Arizona and New Mexico reviewed 62 call records to poison centers from May through June to characterize cases that could be methanol poisoning from alcohol-based hand sanitizer. The researchers also obtained medical records for additional details. But the report does not provide information as to why people were ingesting hand sanitizer.

The researchers found 15 people, ages 21 to 65, were admitted to a hospital after ingesting alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Six developed seizures while in the hospital and three were discharged with new visual impairments, the researchers found.

One patient, a 44-year-old man, said that he drank hand sanitizer in the few days before seeking medical care, according to the CDC paper. The man was hospitalized for six days for acute methanol poisoning and when he was discharged, he went home with almost complete vision loss.

Four of the adults in the CDC report died....
Darwin Award candidates. That's just 2 states.
... This isn't the first time that public health agencies have reminded people not to ingest certain disinfectants or use such products improperly.

In April -- just a day after President Trump suggested during a White House briefing that injecting disinfectant might be a possible coronavirus treatment -- the CDC posted on Twitter: "Household cleaners and disinfectants can cause health problems when not used properly. Follow the instructions on the product label to ensure safe and effective use."
:) Good job including that.

The public deserves the most complete data available about COVID-19 in the US. No official source is providing it, so we are.

Every day, our volunteers compile the latest numbers on tests, cases, hospitalizations, and patient outcomes from every US state and territory.

COVID-19 isn't affecting all communities equally. We've partnered with the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research to collect the most complete racial data anywhere in the COVID Racial Data Tracker.

Crisis medicine: Potential COVID-19 treatments that lack FDA approval

... Over-the-counter remedies

Hanaway’s team identified three over-the-counter supplements as particularly helpful in mitigating COVID-19’s symptoms: quercetin, NAC and vitamin D.

Quercetin, an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory found in many fruits, vegetables and grains, supports the immune system. NAC, an amino acid, boosts the body’s strongest antioxidant, glutathione. Vitamin D insufficiency “creates a significant increase in risk of COVID-19 infection,” notes Hanaway, who is past president of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. He’s quick to caution that there’s not enough data to claim that any of these substances prevents the illness. But, “There are measures that can be taken in terms of health, nutrition and immune support to decrease the risk of severe infection,” even though none of them are proven.

An observational study of data from 20 European countries published by Anglia Ruskin University last May found that vitamin D can be effective in preventing the so-called “cytokine storm” that’s been linked to many COVID deaths.

The task force also found what it called “strong” evidence in the medical literature for elderberry, vitamin C and zinc, the last of which was said to help with prevention, reduced severity of symptoms, reduced duration of illness and preventing lower respiratory tract infections. Other promising natural treatments identified by the task force include green tea, curcumin, resveratrol, melatonin, vitamin A, PEA, beta-glucans, andrographis and licorice.

But the IFM’s report, stresses Hanaway, offers only a glimpse of the abundant evidence that natural substances can be effective in treating COVID-19, even if they lack FDA approval....
The Functional Medicine Approach to COVID-19: Virus-Specific Nutraceutical and Botanical Agents

I've been taking 3000 IUs of vitamin D3 daily for months. I think I'll bump up to 5000 IUs.

There doesn't seem to be any risk to taking quercetin supplements. I may pick some up. Cilantro is already a regular part of my diet, I can eat more kale, and I can switch to red onions.

I can also easily and pretty safely start taking low dose Zinc, Elderberry and Vitamin C.

I'm not sure about acetylcysteine (NAC). There are risks and the evidence for benefit is weak. I may look into it further.

The Coronavirus Is Airborne Indoors. But We're Still Scrubbing Surfaces.

... All over the world, workers are soaping, wiping and fumigating surfaces with an urgent sense of purpose: to fight the coronavirus. But scientists increasingly say that there is little to no evidence that contaminated surfaces can spread the virus. In crowded indoor spaces like airports, they say, the virus that is exhaled by infected people and that lingers in the air is a much greater threat.

Hand washing with soap and water for 20 seconds — or sanitizer in the absence of soap — is still encouraged to stop the virus’s spread. But scrubbing surfaces does little to mitigate the virus threat indoors, experts say, and health officials are being urged to focus instead on improving ventilation and filtration of indoor air.

“In my opinion, a lot of time, energy and money is being wasted on surface disinfection and, more importantly, diverting attention and resources away from preventing airborne transmission,” said Dr. Kevin P. Fennelly, a respiratory infection specialist with the U.S. National Institutes of Health....

I was very nearly a Nutrition major in University. It started when I had a bad winter, terrible cold/flu. I had no idea how to feed myself properly. Someone handed me a copy of Adelle Davis' "Let's Eat Right to Keep Fit" and it was a real eye-opener for me. My diet immediately improved, although I'm told I became somewhat annoying when I quoted Ms. Davis at every opportunity. I outgrew that phase but have kept up with nutrition news.

However, I am a bit sceptical when people come forward with this or that vitamin having magical powers.

While Vitamin D in usual supplement amounts is generally safe, there are known adverse side effects from high dosages over time.

Here's a good article on that subject:

https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/vi ... ottom-line

Me? I eat a well balanced diet and take multivitamins, which always include some vitamin D. Plus I'm outdoors a lot so I get some D from that.

Please show us where my professional sources use the word "magical", you Nutrition dropout. Good luck. Oh wait, you never even looked before foolishly pontificating, did you? From your article:
... While an increasing number of people are supplementing with vitamin D, it’s rare to find someone with very high blood levels of this vitamin.

One recent study looked at data from more than 20,000 people over a 10-year period. It found that only 37 people had levels above 100 ng/ml (250 nmol/l). Only one person had true toxicity, at 364 ng/ml (899 nmol/l) (8Trusted Source).

In one case study, a woman had a level of 476 ng/ml (1,171 nmol/l) after taking a supplement that gave her 186,900 IU of vitamin D3 per day for two months (9).
1 in 20K over 10 years. Opps.

Also, my Vit D level is checked by my MD. Opps again.

As for "nutrition dropout", that is totally uncalled for. I wound up majoring in Biochemistry instead, got my 4 year degree in that. So there you dilettante.

So says the forum ASSHOLE.

Over and out.

I should have known better than to try to reason with the likes of Vrede.

What a waste of space he is.

A "career in healthcare"? I guess emptying bedpans counts for something.

And now the rest of you can enjoy Vrede throwing multiple tantrums all over BRD.

As always, the big fat Useless crybaby throws a tantrum when his ignorant attack - according to his own source - utterly flops. Awww. There is nothing, nothing more pathetic than someone that dishes it out only to screech like a toddler if it comes back at him. Grow up.

As always, you're still cowering from the question and cowering from your lie about not posting "magical", along with cowering from having debunked yourself in the Healthline quote I posted. Pansy. All you've got is desperate and whiny deflection.

Nothing in the world wrong with the service and sacrifice of "emptying bedpans" for those in need. It's an honor to be relied on so, and I've even seen MDs do it. Of course, you know that ER RNs have far far far greater responsibilities than that, but you always resort to compounding your stupidity when you're floundering on your chosen topic. Pitiful.

No matter, I'm laughing at your swing and miss while you will remember for the rest of your life the disdain you've shown for all nurses and nurses' aides - every time you, a friend if you have any, or a loved one needs our services. At your age and with your health issues, that karma is a moronic thing to take on. Haha.

Btw, idiot, "over" means that you expect a reply, "out" means that the conversation is done. "Over and out" is a contradictory imbecile's tell.

Do you know anything that Hollywood hasn't fed you BS about? Plus, either one is the final word in the immediate communication, never followed by 5! more paragraphs. You fail even by Hollywood standards.

We've seen it before.
Once again, your prediction is merely a description of your own paranoid stupidity.
YOU are the one that followed me here to launch an idiotic attack and don't have the balls to admit how badly it failed.
YOU are the one now throwing multiple tantrums about it while ducking all topical discussion.
What we ALL saw before was you throwing whiny fits "all over BRD" despite pleas from others to limit your screeching to particular threads and my adhering to their requests.
It's always hilarious how your infantile caterwauling is really projection of your own many many failings.

Let's tally what you're desperately cowering from, pussy:
Your attack out of the blue was nonsensical.
Quotes from our own source proved the nonsense of it.
You're still running away from my first response's question.
You lied about "magical", moronically denied having posted it and can't face having your two lies called out.
Your funny ignorance of radio practices, even ignorance by Hollywood standards. Your latest is yet another "out" fail. That's how easy it is for me to push your buttons. Ha!

Your disdain for healthcare workers is twisted and your cretinous delusions about what ER RNs do is a scream. As always, you came here imagining your superiority, but really just proved what an inferior slug you are. No wonder even the LNF lefties detest you. You can't even admit the shame that we both know you will experience when nurses and aides once again supply the caring, expert service that you've never had the skills nor temperament to offer others. Wimps that are prone to getting their asses kicked by neighbors that are never even charged, exactly as neoplacebo predicted and you've been too sackless to admit, should avoid such easily predictable humiliation.

Finally, your lifelong anal obsession is once again noted. It's a shame that your toilet training was so harsh and you've never had the smarts nor spine to grow out of it. Awwww.
