Joltin' Joe Biden

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Wiki's kind of sketchy, you may not have crossed paths at all. He was born in and grew up in Texas, but MAYBE he went straight to GWU, home of my birth hospital, straight out of the service in about 1962. MAYBE he then never left DC and La Raza came to him. -0-?

Look at Biden's pic above.
Did you know that Duke actually got elected?

He's really is on a roll, even Obama didn't have this kind of success in his first two years (although Obamacare was a big fucking deal). This is pretty much what hoped when we voted for him.

Shame he's not getting proper accolades.

Biden Is on a Roll That Any President Would Relish. Is It a Turning Point?

Cool. Not disagreeing with you about Joe accomplishing more, but Obama also had Stimulus 1 & 2, which were also big deals at the time. In hindsight they look rather meek in comparison to the pandemic stimuli.

You Go Joe!
Nice prediction! Found on a forum:
20 months of the Biden administration:
-- Strongest economy and employment in the post-pandemic developed world
-- Lowest inflation and gas prices in the developed world
-- Reduced budget deficit after 4 years of increases
-- Covid relief legislation
-- Infrastructure legislation
-- Lower Medicare drug cost legislation
-- Executive action to ensure federal access to abortion
-- Climate action legislation
-- Gun control legislation
-- Police funding and public safety legislation
-- Debt relief for preyed upon students
-- Moving semiconductor manufacturing from China to US legislation
-- Build solar/battery/green manufacturing in US rather than China legislation
-- Minimum tax for corporations and the super rich legislation
-- Pardons for simple marijuana possession
-- Negotiated end to potentially disastrous threatened rail strike
-- Punishment and justice for 9-11 leader
-- Rallied Europe and stymied Putin invasion of Ukraine
-- Repaired critical alliances in Europe and Asia
-- Return of decency, honesty and morality to White House
-- Return of pragmatism and moderation without polarizing melodrama

GoJoeGo, fershure, and I'd agree he's accomplished a lot. But I find that list to stretch it a bit. Not everything is actually accomplished yet, and some of the items weren't really under his control. But yeah, Dems need to be out making more effort to publicize the accomplishments and do it in a catchy slogan manner.

I don't disagree. I copied and posted without reviewing 1 by 1. Guess I have to now.
20 months of the Biden administration:
-- Strongest economy and employment in the post-pandemic developed world
"Strongest economy" depends on the yardstick.
-- Lowest inflation and gas prices in the developed world
 That's always been the case.
-- Reduced budget deficit after 4 years of increases
-- Covid relief legislation
-- Infrastructure legislation
-- Lower Medicare drug cost legislation
-- Executive action to ensure federal access to abortion
-- Climate action legislation
-- Gun control legislation
Strongest in decades.
-- Police funding and public safety legislation
Not necessarily a plus, but it did include things like mental health funding.
-- Debt relief for preyed upon students
Depending on multiple lawsuits.
-- Moving semiconductor manufacturing from China to US legislation
-- Build solar/battery/green manufacturing in US rather than China legislation
-- Minimum tax for corporations and the super rich legislation
-- Pardons for simple marijuana possession
Needs to go farther.
It was a low bar.
-- Return of pragmatism and moderation without polarizing melodrama
Biased perspective and debatable.
Other ones that you take issue with?

The "catchy slogan" should include GoCubsGo's Joltin' Joe.

Rail strike is still at risk.
I'd want to see at least some ground broken on semi-conductor and battery plants before claiming it, but the legislation at least makes it more likely.
I think Zelenskyy might have had some hand in Russia being stymied, but Bidens support clearly helped. Marijuana pardons are nice, but I'd be more impressed with national legalization.

In a way, it's like writing a resume. If you try to include everything you've ever done in your life, there's no priorities and the important ones get lost in the less significant. But clearly he, along with the work of P-Lo and Chuckie have gotten a lot done.

Ah.
I'd want to see at least some ground broken on semi-conductor and battery plants before claiming it, but the legislation at least makes it more likely.
All it claims is the "legislation", not success yet. I'm okay with that.
I think Zelenskyy might have had some hand in Russia being stymied, but Biden's support clearly helped.
It could have been worded better. It just assumes what you say.
Marijuana pardons are nice, but I'd be more impressed with national legalization.
 Idk if that's possible yet, but it's getting closer. Joe could do more - pardoning all nonviolent pot dealers, re-prioritizing the DEA, etc.

Yeah, I'm not knocking Joe. I just think the author of the list was maybe trying too hard. It's pretty easy to list some major thinks Biden has done, the least of which from our standpoint is undoing some of the worst Trump messes.

The list though reminded me of how some do-nothing Congress critters (you know who you are) will loudly announce "I have introduced legislation that will require Bibles to be issued as part of school supplies..." Congress critter knows it's going nowhere but the announcement sounds like something. Or the lawyer who proclaims "today we have filed suit against TicketMaster on behalf of all customers who were unable to purchase Taylor Swift tickets." Going nowhere, but the lawyer gets publicity.

Add to the list - Joe is the first Dem POTUS to not lose a Senate seat in the midterms since FDR 88 years ago.

Ron Klain has resigned as WH chief of staff. I had no idea who Ron Klain was which is how it should be, especially after Mark Meadows.

The new one will be Jeffrey Zients. To O Really's horror he is a Duke grad, summa cum laude in 1988.

Nothing wrong with being a Duke grad. Served Nixon and Starr well.
Along with my current Congresscritter, Mike Levin.
