Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I have seen countless shows on Dateline, ID and Forensics Files where somebody was arrested and convicted for murder and sent to prison on lamer evidence than even the weakest against Trump. "No body? No weapon? No motive? No opportunity? Got an alibi? Don't care - you're the ex-boyfriend (or whoever) and you're under arrest."

But there is that very legitimate fear that any jury would have at least one hard core Trumper that wouldn't convict him if he was on video and admitted shooting somebody on Madison Ave.

Liz Cheney may get voted out of office.

But she's getting the last laugh on Donald.

She's such a standout because of how rare it's become to see a Repub with integrity, honor, courage and patriotism.

Kinzinger also.

I respect the hell out of them, but I still couldn't vote for them.

 Sort of reminds me of when I saw John DeLorean toasting his cocaine deal (with the cocaine in a briefcase on the table in front of him) and as I recall, he was found not guilty. Innocence is expensive. You just have to know how innocent you can afford to be.

Seems like it would be difficult to prosecute and punish without knowing there was actual malice (as opposed to incompetence) and the only way to know that is to recover the texts and see what they're covering up.
May not need Garland until it's time to prosecute.
DHS launches criminal investigation into Secret Service over missing Jan. 6 text messages

... NBC News reported that the Inspector General told the Secret Service in a letter that the agency should halt its internal investigation into the missing texts due to the start of the criminal investigation.
Internal whitewash is stymied.
... The investigation’s results could potentially be referred to federal prosecutors, media outlets have reported....

"The United States Secret Service respects and supports the important role of the National Archives and Records Administration in ensuring the preservation of government records," agency spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said earlier this week.

I didn't remember any of that. Classic police entrapment, but I'm sure it cost a lot to prove it:

A Capitol rioter who said she wanted to shoot Nancy Pelosi in 'the friggin' brain' was sentenced to 2 months in prison

... Judge Emmet Sullivan told Bancroft in court on Wednesday that he was particularly disturbed by the comments and had initially considered a longer sentence before prosecutors recommended two months, according to CNN....

Prosecutors seem to have taken the position generally that while the rioters did violate some laws, that much if not most of the rhetoric was "heat of the moment" stuff and not necessarily a real threat. I disagree. It's probably true that most of the idiots at the Capitol might not ever shoot or bludgeon anybody back home in Bumphuck, but mob effect does occur and stuff happens. All it would take is for one loud guy to say "there she is - get her" and somebody would have done it. I'd have wanted to throw the book at all their sorry asses.

The radio intercepts played last night tell a very different tale.

They do. And that's another reason I disagree with the approach they're taking. Make an example. Let them know there's a price to be paid for their little "patriot" adventure.

I've said in the past that charging and convicting trump would be fraught with perils from demonstrations to the difficulties of finding a true impartial jury that could come to a unanimous verdict.

I may be rethinking that, although my concerns are still valid.

These hearings are incredibly damming, but they're just a highlight reel. The breadth and scope of charges and going to trial will take mountains of subpoenas, depositions and discovery. More than an the average layperson could possibly imagine.

A trial itself could easily take a year.

Can you imagine seeing Cheetohead sitting and seething in a defendant's chair all that time, not being able to speak about it?

Bring it on, I'm cool with rolling the dice on conviction.

Kind of a given, but I'd be ok with a debilitating stroke too.

 One that makes him communicate like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX9reO3QnUA

Steve Bannon found guilty of criminal contempt of Congress

... Bannon was found guilty of two counts of criminal contempt — one for refusing to appear for a deposition before the panel and the other for refusing to produce requested documents. Each count carries a minimum potential sentence of 30 days and a maximum of one year in jail, as well as a fine of $100 to $1,000.

The jury deliberated for a little over two hours in federal court in Washington, D.C., before returning its verdict. U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols set Oct. 21 as the date for Bannon's sentencing....
3 months for sentencing? It might be minimal and maybe the judge won't LOCK HIM UP, but it's still a gratifying headline.

Judge Carl J. Nichols was appointed by TRE45ON, but he did make several anti-Bannon pretrial rulings. Predictions?
Spoiler:

I'll go with 2 months and $2000, but that could be wishful thinking.

Minimum is 30 days per charge, maximum is one year. He can serve concurrently.

45-60 days, unless he continues to piss off the judge then who knows?

Idk if misdemeanors have mandatory minimums.
