Cawthorn

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Just playing with you - I'm sure your sandwich was delicious.
:D My feelings weren't hurt. I appreciate the education on what a real philly cheesesteak is. I might have embarrassed myself non-anonymously.

I will stick with sausages. Shredded beef never appears on my shopping list.

Ha! Probably better, actually. The original tends to be a bit greasy, and then there's that Cheez Wiz issue.

Their steak is flavorful and never greasy and I choose provolone, which is coincidentally also traditional. Cheez Whiz is not offered. I then have them add in some veggies that would probably horrify Philadelphians. It's not a hoagie, but I like their Italian Herbs & Cheese rolls.

Sorry to interrupt, but WTF do Philly Cheesesteaks have to do with Madison Cawthorne's antics?

Although to tell the truth, I'd much rather have a Philly Cheesesteak.

Iggles fans often add green pepper, but it's not part of the real original.
But if you get tired of cheesesteaks, you can go across the border to whack9 country and get a pork roll, sometimes called Taylor ham.

Yum, guys, I've taken a couple of spinach feta chicken sausages (yes, I did pick the oddest kind for your benefit) out of the freezer. Tonight or tomorrow: Un-Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich.

The scandals may not be spoken about, but they matter.

Still don't think the recent ones made it to the Times Noose or Citizen Times.

In Madison Cawthorn’s NC district, it’s not the scandals that matter to voters

Maddy may well be in trouble...
...

“I mean, I’ve not seen him since the election,” says Joe Hall, the owner of Bear Creek Marina. He doesn’t attribute Cawthorn’s failures to any one thing; instead, he says, it happened gradually. Harold Wilson, a Vietnam veteran at the Edwards event, said the congressman “didn’t stay in touch with the people who helped him.”

Republican opponent Michele Woodhouse, ideologically, is closer to Cawthorn than to Edwards. But she also does not buy Cawthorn’s belief that there’s a left-wing media conspiracy to dispel him from office. “The left wing media did not make Madison Cawthorn drive without a driver’s license,” she says. “No one made him be an irresponsible gun owner twice.”

The recent scandals about Cawthorn donning lingerie or having sexually suggestive contact with male staffers did not come up at Edwards’s campaign event, either. What did was his disregard for the laws that all people have to follow, regardless of party. Beyond that, it comes back to his desertion, both in Washington and in western NC. It was his attendance record in Congress, where he is one of the most frequently absent members. It’s the constituent services. It’s leaving the district to run somewhere almost entirely new, instead of being the strong Republican the voters in the district want.

Chris Cooper, a political science professor at Western Carolina University, has also heard this from voters. He sees this race as likely heading to a runoff — just as it did when Cawthorn was selected, and as it did with Meadows before him.

"...the only thing Madison can be blamed for ..." Seriously? How about not doing diddly-squat for his district. Nevermind the scandals, nevermind the embarrassment - WTF has he done to deserve keeping his phony-baloney job? Nothing nada zilch zip.

There used to be a congresscritter in Florida - female, I don't remember her name, who was always in trouble for something, and eventually got run off for some kind of fraud, I think. But she kept getting elected and kept high approval because she brought stuff home. She didn't care if you called it pork or whatever, she made it work. Airport money, roads, parks, econ dev stuff, probably extra funding for some local pols, but whatever. Whatever it took to get stuff for "her people." Too bad she was also a bit sleazy.
