House members descend into a Twitter brouhaha after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene rips Rep. Nancy Mace as 'the trash in the GOP conference'

... GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a vocal critic of his more far-right colleagues, chimed in with another creative insult directed at Taylor Greene. The Illinois Republican, who is retiring in 2022, also issued a broadside at House Minority Kevin McCarthy for not forcefully condemning members like Greene and Boebert.

"I love this, but worth noting that while this battle between Nancy Mace and the unserious circus barker McSpacelaser, @GOPLeader continues his silent streak that would make a monk blush," Kinzinger tweeted....

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California also got in on the Tuesday morning Twitter action, quipping, "I would say this feels like high school. But high schoolers know how to spell "you're."

Taylor Greene later replied: "*You're for the spellcheck police."

Ummm, the phrase is 'spelling police', "spellcheck police" means something completely different. You just doubled down on dumb.

... Later, on Tuesday afternoon, Taylor Greene tweeted that she'd just gotten off the phone with former President Donald Trump to talk about Mace.

Mace first used a peanut emoji to call Taylor Greene "totally nuts," and then wrote in a separate tweet: that Taylor Greene was "running to the principle's office to tattletale because she can't stand on her own two feet."

... Mace’s offense? Condemning Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) on CNN after Boebert insinuated Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), who is Muslim, is a terrorist. Boebert then refused to apologize after saying she would, and instead claimed Omar owed her the apology.

For reasons that aren’t clear, Greene inserted herself into the “conversation” on Boebert’s behalf via an early morning tweet Tuesday.

In addition to misspelling “you’re” as she did so, Greene falsely claimed Mace is pro-abortion because she was raped in high school and supports exemptions to an abortion ban in cases of rape and incest....

In a follow-up tweet aimed at Greene, Mace further responded, “What I’m not is a religious bigot (or racist). You might want to try that over there in your little ‘league.’”

“I have time after time condemned my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for racist tropes and remarks that I find disgusting, and this is no different than any others,” Mace said of Boebert’s remarks during an appearance on CNN Monday.

“As a member of Congress and seeing such division in our country, we all have a responsibility, both elected members of Congress on both sides of the aisle and the American people in our communities and at work in our communities and everything else to lower, we have a responsibility to lower the temperature, and this does not do that,” she continued.
