I never was a big sports fan, but watching the world cup is pretty cool.

Those guys take a beating man. Every 10 minutes there's two dudes lying on the ground in agonizing pain like someone just kicked them in the balls and chopped off a finger. Then five minutes later they're up running at full blast again like nothing happened. They must have balls of steel.

It's like watching Nascar only for the wrecks.

I enjoy watching the World Cup, also..how it brings my fam together! It's fun to see the older family members getting so hyped. LOL

The dives do suck but at least it's 90 minutes of actual play over 2 hours rather than American football's 16 minutes of actual play over 3-4 hours.

Yeah I totally agree. I can't watch American football. It's fun to play, but boring as hell to watch. I'd rather watch soccer, hockey, or nascar any day.

The thing about these world cup games that I especially like are the fake injuries. Gives you something to laugh at in addition to the action.

Brandi Chastain was on "American Ninja Warrior" last night as a supporter/friend of one of the contestants. Still looks fit and good at 51 or so. Neither she nor the contestant ripped off their shirt, though.

Good luck naming a male player from 30 years ago, or 3 years ago.

Pele, Beckham, Vrede. That's about it for me. Might recognize some names off a list, though.

Yeah, maybe I'll start with league and team names. So far, I know in the Premier League there's Man U, Arsenal, and Chelsea. In MLS, I know there are Sounders and Galaxy. Without cheating, I don't know I could name more, though I might recognize some others if I saw them in a list. My interest in soccer (or futbol) is only slightly above reading daily stock reports. Oh wait - I know Beckham's wife's name. Does that count? Or is it a black mark on my man-card that I know more names of Spice Girls than soccer players?

I was flipping late yesterday between Army Navy and got a little caught up in the Portland Timbers and the New York Somethings in extra time and then the shootout.

Maybe I'm a bad American, but every time I watch futball I enjoy it and find it compelling.
