Lots of articles out there on this theme:

USWNT can't wait to face France in a match worthy of a final

Some were even appearing BEFORE the "United States got lucky against Spain" (Hope Solo).
They didn’t score from open play and their second penalty was very soft – if it was a penalty at all. I watched the replay in the broadcasting booth over and over again, and none of us could see if Rose Lavelle was touched or not....
France needed 2OT to barely beat Brasil. I'll gloat a little bit if neither the US nor France wins it all.

Anyhow, people are excited:
France-United States match could become most expensive game in Women's World Cup history

... The cheapest tickets available on StubHub are being sold for €740.78, or the equivalent of $844.73. One user is selling a pair of tickets for €12,450 ($14,196.98) — although the seat locations aren’t listed — and there are 28 sets of tickets going for at least $2,000.

The Women’s World Cup is obviously a massive worldwide event and only occurs every four years, but these prices are well outside the norm. Tickets for Thursday's quarterfinal match between England and Norway range between $28.51 and $169.91.

The prices are especially impressive considering how much lower they were at the last Women’s World Cup. As ESPN pointed out, the USWNT’s quarterfinal match against China had an average resale price of $165, while the final against Japan had a high of $368....
The article was published June 24. The StubHub link now shows a single ticket for €137, with the rest all €200 or more now that the game is only a day away.

 Proofreading/link checking edit: The ticket for €137 is gone.

Parc des Princes in Paris has a seating capacity of 47,929.

Your are truly a statistical anomaly - surpassing chance regularly. You do realize the odds of going 0-7 on 50/50 chances are the same as going 7-0, right?

They're not really 50/50 chances. In the 8 post-group stage games I only picked the favorite twice.

It was the opposite in the NBA tourney. I only lost the Final, which wasn't a huge loss to me, but I think I only picked the underdog twice.

They're 50/50 chances if you pick randomly. Which should have given you a much better result than actually selecting.

Yes, I am doing worse than chance, and losing those 2 favorites, too, suggests that I'm cursed. This would bother me more if I was gambling. Instead, I'm just making wishes, and they're chosen in part because they're underdogs.

I've only picked the favorite in the quarterfinals once, Netherlands > Italy. Too bad for Netherlands.

Nevermind, I thought you had money or some awkward or humiliating bet. Picking just for someone to root for is different, but still ... 0-7?

Gambling straight up my picks would have been very different, still losing at least those 2 favorites but not most of the other games.

Gambling with odds my picks would have been the same and I would indeed be a humiliating 0-8-1. Sort of, I changed 2 games at the last minute. If I'd wagered on them early, I would have won Italy > China instead of punting, and Netherlands - Japan would have been my 'no preference', 1-7-1 woohoo.

Go England > USA, less likely than France was according to the oddsmakers. But, the WWC favorite USA has been tested 2 straight games now, and France won most of the stats other than the score.

Netherlands to win it all.
Sweden 2, Germany 1, I've got a streak going!

2-2 in the quarterfinals, 2-9-1 in knockout games

Go (all EDT):

England > USA, 02 July, 15:00

Megan Rapinoe is NOT starting! The talking heads have no idea whether it's injury, tactical or what. She is dressed for play, but not warming up like the rest of the team is. US Soccer is saying, 'Ask us why after the game.' We'll see, the team has depth and Carli Lloyd of all people has been a sub. Plus, other than goalie futbol relies less on an individual player than most sports.

Alex Morgan's 30th birthday, no WWC player has ever scored on her birthday.

Goals:
US - 10', Christen Press, also 30, Rapinoe's replacement, 1-0
England - 19', 1-1
US - 31', birthday girl Morgan, 2-1
She was barely onsides. Probably something else, but I swear that her celebratory gesture looked like she was toking on a joint.
Next goal scheduled for about the 40' mark.

Hi,

Why aren't you updating:
“Soccer Future Odds, Odds to Win the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup (7/7/19)”
http://www.vegasinsider.com/soccer/odds/futures/

The quarterfinals are over, the semis begin in 2 hours, France, Germany and Italy have zero chance of winning, and the odds have certainly changed for USA, England, Netherlands and Sweden.

Thanks,
I have not gotten a reply, but they removed "Odds to Win the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup (7/7/19)” from the webpage entirely.

Halftime: It almost happened for England, too.
Up close the US uniforms look reddish, at a distance more orange. Homage to 45SHOLE?

US had to block a 2nd half PK, wins 2-1  . Same score as vs. Spain and France, it is vulnerable.

Beautiful 20+ yard goal well into OT1 by Netherlands  , 1-0. They still play out OT2.

Semi-serious question: In a sport in which entire teams run around in circles yelling after every goal, why is it controversial or even newsworthy when some player makes a small gesture?

If you mean my posts, I just thought it was funny.

If "sips birthday tea" is controversial, I haven't heard about it and would need to see the criticism. Off the top of my head, it is a little rude to mock an opponent's symbol rather than just celebrating one's own accomplishment. If opponents wiped their butts with a picture of an eagle, Americans would be annoyed. There's a difference between chanting, "We're #1," and "You suck."

If you mean something else entirely, what is it?
