The LEO thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Get this: black kid brings his friend a loaded gun and then uses his car to block the victim's car so his buddy can shoot her.
Sheriff’s chief deppity says, "There’s nothing we could charge him with,’' according to the law, she said."

And his coach says, "not in any trouble” as a result of his alleged involvement."

“Brandon hasn’t been in any type of trouble nor is he in any type of trouble in this case. Wrong spot at the wrong time,”

Update:
Wrongful death lawsuit filed against ex-Alabama star Brandon Miller

The family of a woman killed in a shooting on the Tuscaloosa strip near the University of Alabama campus has filed a federal wrongful death lawsuit against three men, including former Alabama star Brandon Miller, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft.

The other two men named in the complaint are former Alabama player Darius Miles and Michael Davis, who are facing capital murder charges in the shooting death of Jamea Jonae Harris, 23, on Jan. 15. Miller was not charged with a crime.

... In the lawsuit, they allege Miles, Davis and Miller "knew or should have known that bringing a dangerous weapon to a dispute and discharging said weapon would likely result in harm." In addition, the complaint alleges that "as a direct or proximate consequence of the negligence or wantonness of each of the defendants," Harris was caused to suffer serious injuries resulting in her death.

Miller, a rookie with the Charlotte Hornets, signed a contract in July worth $49 million over four years. He will make $11 million in the first year of the contract....
We'll see.

A Black woman in Mississippi reported her son missing and went 7 months with police telling her they couldn’t find him.

She sent them photos, begged for updates, and implored them to put his story on the news.

It turns out they knew where he was all along. An hour after he left his house he was struck and killed on the highway by an off duty police officer.

They hid his body in the morgue for months without ever notifying his family despite there being a prescription bottle with his name on it found at the scene.

Then they buried him in a pauper’s field with nothing but a number identifying him as corpse # “672”.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/be ... rcna121697
The entire article is tragic and infuriating, but there's also this:
... The decision to call the police was difficult for Bettersten. She did not trust them. In 2019, her 62-year-old brother died after a Jackson officer slammed him to the ground. The officer was convicted of manslaughter but is appealing.

Her family filed a wrongful death lawsuit accusing Jackson officers of excessive force and attempting to cover up their actions, and accusing the city of failing to properly train and supervise the officers. The city has denied the claims and said it isn’t liable for what happened. The officers’ lawyer said they acted responsibly and lawfully. A federal judge dismissed some of Bettersten’s claims; others remain pending in state court.

Bettersten said her mother advised her not to call the police about Dexter.

“My mama told me, ‘They’re not going to do anything,’” Bettersten recalled. “But I had to do something to find Dexter, and I thought that was the best way.” ...
Note that it was a sheriff’s deputy that finally took her to her unidentified son's pauper’s grave. The Jackson police are COWARDS.

Philadelphia Judge Dismisses Murder Charge Against Cop Who Killed Eddie Irizarry
Former Officer Mark Dial fatally shot Irizarry, who was sitting in his vehicle with the window rolled up, in August.

A judge on Wednesday reinstated all charges, including a murder count, against a former police officer who shot and killed a driver through a rolled-up car window — a confrontation police initially described as the officer shooting the driver after he lunged at him with a knife outside the car.

Common Pleas Court Judge Lillian Ransom agreed with prosecutors that the facts of the case should be established at trial.

About 1/2 hour from my former home:
Woman Who Named Her Kids 'Aryan' and 'Nation' Accused of Running Over Native American Woman

... A Montana mother of two is facing charges after allegedly hitting a Native American woman and fleeing the scene in a deadly hit-and-run, say authorities.

Sunny Kathrinne White, 28, was arrested Saturday and charged with five felonies including vehicular homicide while under the influence in connection with the death of Mika Josephine Westwolf, 22, in March 2023, according to charging documents obtained by PEOPLE.
 Her name is White.
White is also charged with accidents involving another person or deceased person, two counts of criminal child endangerment, and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

White’s two children, Aryan, 4, and Nation, 2, were in the car with her at the time of the accident, the Missoulian reports.
:---P Coward. There's no indication in the article that the homicide was racial, but charges and prison couldn't happen to a more deserving perp. If baby daddy isn't in the picture hopefully the relatives or foster/adoptive parents will change the cruel names.

Good on the uber-observant deputy with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office catching the perp about an hour after the body was found.
... According to KRTV, the family released a statement on Friday, saying, "As we mark seven months since Mika's tragic passing, it is essential to acknowledge that this arrest is just the beginning of the journey towards justice.

“The fight to seek accountability, raise awareness, and protect the lives of Indigenous people and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives remains an ongoing battle.

“Our hearts go out to the families who are still searching for their loved ones, and we remain deeply saddened by the fact that Native Americans continue to go missing at an alarming rate. The urgency to address this issue has never been greater." ...
No details on why it took seven months for charging. The Lake County Attorney, a White Repug, says that it's a "complex case." -0-?

Minnesota Sheriff Crashed His Patrol Car While Drunk

While we love highlighting the heroic efforts of law enforcement, sometimes they’re the ones breaking the law. A case out of Minnesota involved Sheriff Dave Hutchinson crashing his car after getting drunk while attending a law enforcement convention of all things, causing a huge uproar after many demanded he resign but refused. It’s quite the tale that can be told in part using the dashcam footage of deputies responding to the accident.

The crash in question happened on December 8, 2021, sometime after 2 am. Multiple people called 911 to report the accident as bystanders tried to keep the victim, who was crawling away from the wreckage, from going onto the freeway. Dashcam footage shows the sheriff stumbling on his feet,

Sheriff Hutchinson told a lot of stories to deputies that night. One of the most entertaining and ridiculous was that a cab driver was behind the wheel of his cruiser, hinting that it was in fact a taxi and not a cop car. If you’ve ever spent time around someone with addiction problems, you know they can get pretty creative in their attempts to cover their tracks. However, using facts and scrutinizing what they say will quickly reveal the deception.
"addiction problems" may or may not be relevant. He was a busted cop and his lips were moving.
... His carrying pistol under influence-alcohol charge was continued for dismissal, however the sheriff was convicted of operating motor vehicle with alcohol concentration 0.08 within two hours, a misdemeanor charge. That was all done under a plea agreement, with the sheriff serving probation instead of being incarcerated.
 Wrist slap, as usual.
As one might imagine, plenty of people thought Sheriff Hutchinson should have resigned after this crash, but he didn’t. Even after more allegations of misconduct came to light, he doggedly continued to serve in his post. Despite fears he would do the opposite, he didn’t run for reelection in 2022.
Stayed in his job for over a year. :puke-left:
That wasn’t the end of Hutchinson’s law enforcement career. He was hired back on with Metro Transit Police Department, where he worked before becoming sheriff, serving as a sergeant. This was allowed by a law that gives people the chance to go back to their old job after being in an elected position. Not everyone thinks Hutchinson should be in law enforcement, with some unnamed sources inside Metro Police telling journalists many in the department were “furious” about being forced to rehire the man....
Criminal cop revolving door, again. :angry-banghead:
Hennepin County (/ˈhɛnəpɪn/ HEN-ə-pin) is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. Its county seat is Minneapolis, the state's most populous city....

Corrections officer traveled to WNC for sex with toddler; sentenced in federal court

A former corrections officer was sentenced in federal court Nov. 2 for traveling to Hendersonville to engage in illicit sex acts with a minor, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, Dena J. King, announced in a news release.

John Allen Biggins, 42, of Surgoinsville, Tennessee, will serve 17 years in prison, after he pleaded guilty on Feb. 27 to traveling in interstate commerce to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.
Fuckin' furriners ravaging our pre-womenfolk.
Following his release from prison, Biggins will have a lifetime of supervised release and must register as a sex offender, the news release said.
Guess he'll have to stick to private prison work.
... Agents received private messages from a user called “Bigjohnbiggie” ― later identified as Biggins ― claiming he had engaged in sex with his underage stepdaughter and expressing interest in engaging in sexual acts with the undercover agent’s purported 4-year-old daughter. At one point, Biggins discussed “in detail the sexual acts he would like to engage in” with the toddler, the affidavit said.
Ewww! Pre pre pre-womenfolk.
... At the time, Biggens was serving as a corrections officer at the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, according to the news release. Once he learned of the offense, Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy “immediately terminated Biggins,” the release said....

This happened during Gannet’s unsupervised forum days. For weeks two of the daughters tried to defend their scum of a father to people who really got in their face about Dad being the lowest of the low.
I stayed out of it once the daughters started posting. I hadn’t imagined that they were reading what I and others were posting, but I guess that’s always the case when children are involved.

As the Habadabadaba lady explained yesterday - just leave the children alone.

Revealed: the hidden iPhone feature that can help if you get pulled over by police

... Once you have downloaded the shortcut link, she says "all you have to do is say 'Hey Siri', I'm being pulled over' and it's going to initiate 18 different reactions at one time."

The shortcut starts by sending your precise location to a pre-defined contact of your choice, then it activates the phone's front-facing camera to video the situation. To give the impression that the phone is inactive, the shortcut will also dim the phone screen to 0% brightness, along with muting any music you may be playing. The recording from the front-facing camera is also uploaded live to your iCloud or Dropbox account for added security....

1. Ensure your iPhone is running iOS 12 or later
2. Get the shortcut here
3. Once downloaded, set up your preferred contact who you’d like to be alerted
4. Of course, for the feature to work best, you'll need your phone mounted in a car phone holder, angled towards you and your driver's side window, so the front facing camera will have the best chance of recording a police officer standing alongside your vehicle.
