To be fair, if they stay in the cellar and out of the sewer it's a win.

Howard Terminal ballpark project
On Wednesday, the proposed Howard Terminal ballpark project got a conceptual endorsement from the Greenbelt Alliance, a local non-profit whose mission is “to educate, advocate, and collaborate to ensure the Bay Area’s lands and communities are resilient to a changing climate.”

The Greenbelt Alliance’s statement praises several aspects of the Howard Terminal project, including the construction of new affordable housing and its “contribution to climate resilience” among other things, and hails it as an example for other cities to follow.

And, today, the Chicago Cubs are tied with the Cincinnati Reds for the NL Central Cellar. Both are currently at an embarrassing .365.

Jerar Encarnación slam in debut lifts Marlins over Mets 6-2

... Inserted into the depleted Marlins' starting lineup, Encarnación made a spectacular major league debut with a go-ahead, seventh-inning grand slam for his first hit. He also threw out a runner at second base from right field and stole a base, lifting Alcantara and Miami over the New York Mets 6-2 Sunday....

He began 2022 at Double-A Pensacola, homered in his Triple-A debut for Jacksonville on May 17 and was brought up to the big leagues Friday after hitting 13 homers in the minors this year....

Encarnación became the first player since at least 1901 with a grand slam and an outfield assist in his debut. He gave the Marlins a 4-1 lead, becoming the second Miami player with a grand slam for his first big league hit after Jeremy Hermida against St. Louis pitcher Alberto Reyes on Aug. 31, 2005. The last player to achieve the feat was San Diego pitcher Daniel Camarena against Washington’s Max Scherzer last July 8....

Miami got the ball back from a fan for Encarnación, who left with it tucked into his backpack. He will give it to his mom, Carmela....

 :-|| MLB, meet Jerar Encarnacion. Thank you, Dominican Republic.

Maybe there's something to be said for a feral cat infestation:

Someone needs to set it to Yakety Sax.
Ooch!

Just noticed the A's have regressed from the cellar and have baseball's sewer all to themselves.

As whatever fans they have left are no longer coming out, there's no scraps and there's gonna be some hungry cats.

Maybe some kind soul will head over there and feed them.

I think sewer rats and roaches may be sufficient.

Careful, the Cubs are not far behind the A's in the race to the bottom...

Today the Pirates schooled the Cubs on how it's done: Seven to One.

Guess who lost...

Lately the only place the Cubs seem to be going is down, down, down...

Then there will be a place in the Coliseum for both Vrede and Sluggo.
