As whatever fans they have left are no longer coming out, there's no scraps and there's gonna be some hungry cats.

Maybe some kind soul will head over there and feed them.

That would take some doing to match the worst Major League Baseball season record in the Modern Era, ironically the 1916 Philadelphia Athletics: AL 36-117 .235, 54½ games back. However, Oakland isn't far from making this list whose cutoff is .300, the 1938 Philadelphia Phillies: NL 45-105 .300, 43 games back. The 1909 Boston Doves: NL 45-108 .294, are remarkable for finishing 65½ games back!

The Athletics appear on the list 2 more times, 1915 and 1919. They really sucked back then. Your Cubs never made the list, but my Baltimore Orioles did in 2018, .290. So, they're having a comparatively excellent year at .466 after 4 wins in a row.

That's why I put modern era in quotes. It includes the early 1900's deadball era.

IMO opinion, the modern era probably should start around 1950 or so. I think there were only four or five on the list post 1950.

The critical BCDC (Bay Conservation and Development Commission) just voted to approve a measure which is the last hurdle that the Oakland A's needed to clear to go ahead with their proposed Howard Terminal ballpark.

So, it's goodbye Oakland Coliseum and hello Howard Terminal.
