Since Useless may not lurk for long and to me the A's sorry state will no longer be mixed with mirth over his whiny attacks on the expert and BRD predictions that they would be cellar dwellers:

LOSERS
Chi White Sox 38-40 .487
42-45 .483
Chi Cubs 32-48 .400, .400! :D
34-53 .391, I jinxed them, lost 5 in a row, nearing the NL Central cellar vs Cincinnati :(
Cincinnati 27-52 .342, NL cellar.
33-54 .379, won 5 in a row
Washington 29-53 .354
30-58 .341, nearing the MLB cellar vs Oakland
Oakland 27-55 .329, still sub 1/3, still MLB cellar  .
30-59 .337, barely over 1/3, still MLB cellar

NEITHER
Baltimore 37-44 .457, c'mon .500!
44-44 .500, MADE IT!
:happy-cheerleaderkid:
I can die happy now

WINNERS
NY Yankees 58-22 .725, MLB leader.
61-26 .701, still MLB leader
LA Dodgers 50-29 .633, NL leader.
56-30 .651, getting stronger
San Diego 47-35 .573, 4.5 back, fading ut-oh.
50-39 .562, splipping, now 7.5 back
San Francisco 40-38 .513, flirting with the losers section, 9.5 back, really fading :( .
44-42 .512, treading water = losing ground, now down 12.0 games

Don't you have to wonder who in the Padres organization said "these are a great idea"......

And why they still have a job.

They're blaming the Mexicans.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/341 ... t-uniforms

"The Padres created a binational theme that pays homage to the Hispanic culture prevalent in a city close to the border shared by Mexico and the United States. They accentuated pink, mint and yellow, vibrant colors seen throughout the Baja peninsula, on a uniform that pays homage to a region with unique social dynamics.

"I think this will be really well received by a young and diverse fan," Greupner said to ESPN in a phone conversation. "We really view this as an opportunity to connect in a deeper and more meaningful way with young and diverse fans"

Or not.

I like the dark version more. 5 out of 14, according to Joon Lee, ESPN:

I also understand better the connection to the Mexican palette. Maybe even the light ones would grow in me.

13th out of 14, according to Joon Lee, ESPN:
13. Chicago Cubs

Image

... Fan reception: The uniforms leaked ahead of their formal reveal and received a largely negative reception from fans, many of whom felt they were boring compared to the rest of the City Connect series, although some appreciated the more toned-down approach.

Verdict: The Cubs took far and away the safest approach to the series so far, which made the new alternates look relatively tame and a tad boring. Overall, the Cubs got outshined by their rivals on the South Side.

Yeah, I think the Padres uni is pretty cool, but I don't like the bi-color "San Diego" on the front. Of course, most designs would improve on the usual blah-brown. I'd buy the mint cap.

Or maybe not, at least not for $45

The uni looks better on some than others, I'm sure.

Yeah, they could be better.

But at least I don't detest them.

Sox did good.

Not a ton of imagination but a good look.

You're a tween? Now it really sucks that you're beating me at Wordle. :(

It looks to me like something great ALMOST happened for the Cubs, maybe a HR snatched away. Am I reading the body language correctly?

Cubs down 3-2, bottom of 9th, 2 outs, 2 runners on. Batter hits it long against the left field fence. It's going... Oh shit - hits the foul pole and bounces back in to the left fielder's glove. Could happen only to the Cubbies.

Actually, it was in extra innings, tie and winning runs on....ball into the gap for the win...and caught!

Not once, but twice yesterday. They dropped a doubleheader, both in extras to the Mets.

I'll always have 2016.

Worse than my tale - and I made mine up! Arrrgh!

Theoretically, would you trade the Cubbie's record for the Padres record if you had to wear the pink/mint unis?

That's a heavy price. A winning record without a World Series victory will soon be forgotten.

Those uniforms will live in infamy forever.

Smart choice, GoCubsGo. San Diego is now 52-41 .559, 9.5 games back, a big July slide. Wearing the pink/mint unis AND missing the postseason would really suck. Still, the Cubs have lost 9 in a row to drop even with Cincinnati in the NL Central cellar at 34-57 .374. Might be worth tutus if they would fix that.
