Will republicans use the Coronavirus in another of their socialism for the rich scams?

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Useless is so desperate to post after I do, and sometimes GoCubsGo, that he often reaches back many months to find something he can respond to. It's just gravy that he posts stupid stuff like reminding us that he was clueless for years about where billy.pilgrim lives....

So - the "welfare Lambo" isn't a myth after all.
But isn't it strange that the same government that nit-picks (opps) and nickel/dimes every unemployment compensation payment has no problem with hastily creating a poorly planned, loosely administered money shoveling operation that throws billions at ineligible people?
How a wedding photographer and a donut shop owner got millions in a COVID testing operation now under investigation

It takes a special kind of creep to rip off a public health program.

US billionaires have become $565 billion richer during the pandemic

"The numbers put an exclamation point on the deep divide between haves and have-nots that is helping to fuel unrest across the United States. Wealth inequality is likely to get even worse because of this crisis, experts say."

Time for change
Billionaire Wealth Has Soared As Millions Fell Into Poverty During Pandemic: Oxfam

... In a report released Sunday, Oxfam detailed how the wealth of billionaires increased more than ever before over the past two years: The 10 richest people in the world — all white men — more than doubled their wealth, from a collective $700 billion to $1.5 trillion.

From March 2020 to November 2021, a new billionaire was created every 26 hours, according to the report.

Meanwhile, the organization estimated that over 160 million people have been pushed into poverty in that time.

“One of the single most powerful tools we have to address this level of egregious and deadly inequality is to tax the rich,” Abby Maxman, president of Oxfam America, said in a news release.

“Instead of lining the pockets of the ultra-wealthy, we should be investing billions of dollars into our economy, our children and our planet, paving the way for a more equal and sustainable future.”

Oxfam’s report estimates that the 252 richest men now hold more wealth than the 1 billion women and girls living in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean combined.

During the pandemic, women were especially economically hard-hit because many work in industries with disproportionate job losses; others were forced to leave work to care for children and elders. Women collectively lost $800 billion in earnings in 2020, and there are 13 million fewer women in the workforce now than in 2019....

“There is no shortage of money... There is only a shortage of courage and imagination needed to break free from the failed, deadly straitjacket of extreme neoliberalism,” Oxfam International’s executive director Gabriela Bucher said in a news release.

“Governments would be wise to listen to the movements — the young climate strikers, Black Lives Matter activists, #NiUnaMenos feminists, Indian farmers and others — who are demanding justice and equality.”

Nursing Homes With Safety Problems Deploy Trump-Connected Lobbyists

Some want direct government aid. Others want tax breaks. Many want protection against lawsuits.

Nursing homes have been the center of America’s coronavirus pandemic, with more than 62,000 residents and staff dying from COVID-19 at nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, about 40% of the country’s virus fatalities. Now the lightly regulated industry is campaigning in Washington for federal help that could increase its profits.

Some of the country’s largest nursing home companies — including those with long histories of safety violations and misusing public funds — have assembled a fleet of lobbyists, many with close ties to the Trump administration.

Eliezer Scheiner, a nursing home owner and major donor to President Donald Trump, recently retained Brian Ballard, a friend of the president who used to lobby on behalf of Trump’s business. Genesis Healthcare, the largest nursing home chain in the United States, hired two former top White House aides, including Jim Schultz, a former special assistant to Trump. LifeCare Centers of America, whose Kirkland, Washington, facility had the country’s first coronavirus outbreak in March, brought on four former Republican Senate aides. The industry’s main trade group enlisted Haley Barbour, a former chair of the Republican National Committee....
PINO, the Repugs and friends killed granny and are scheming to kill lots more of them.
But they need your money

Hell, those places are the LAST places that need money. When I was an estimator I made more than one visit to Deerfield in Hendersonville to give them an estimate on adding to or updating their fire alarm system. This place is affiliated with the Episcopal church so I don't know if they get any government money or not. But I do know that the free standing living quarters at that place cost in excess of $6,000 a month to live there. And that was over ten years ago. There were maybe fifty of those units and another hundred or so cheaper ones in the multi story large part of the facility. That place has paid for itself many times over for somebody.

I heard on the radio that donnie is already crying about the poor hotel owners may need federal (taxpayer) assistance.

Probably more to come; afterall, ask not what the workers can do for the country, ask what they can be do for the rich.
You called it from the beginning:
Most Of The $800 Billion In PPP Loans Did Not Go To Workers, New Study Finds

... A new National Bureau of Economic Research study found that 66% to 77% of the money from the program did not go to paychecks. Instead, most of money ended up in the hands of business owners and shareholders.

The study traced the money from the federal relief program even further and found 72% of the money flowed to the top-fifth of household incomes, meaning most of the money from PPP loans went to people making six-figures....

For every job saved by PPP loans, the study found it cost taxpayers between $170,000 and $257,000....

I figure the reason she died is because you came there. If I'd been there and taken her out for some serious life affirmation therapy and a ride in the sports car to give her some healthy g forces she'd still be alive wondering when I'm coming back and hoping to never see you again. shit

Well, when the time comes for you to take a long rest, please have your care-givers let me know the address of the Insitute for the Terminally Insane where you lodge, so I can plan a special visit.

Not necessarily, hominy. A lot of this stuff can be enjoyed and utilized in the comfort of one's own home. But some of it has to be done out where the rubber meets the road as it were.

You predicted the fraud, though I don't know what proportion of the scammers are RepuQs.
'Biggest fraud in a generation': The looting of the Covid relief program known as PPP

hey bought Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Bentleys.

And Teslas, of course. Lots of Teslas.

Many who participated in what prosecutors are calling the largest fraud in U.S. history — the theft of hundreds of billions of dollars in taxpayer money intended to help those harmed by the coronavirus pandemic — couldn’t resist purchasing luxury automobiles. Also mansions, private jet flights and swanky vacations.

They came into their riches by participating in what experts say is the theft of as much as $80 billion — or about 10 percent — of the $800 billion handed out in a Covid relief plan known as the Paycheck Protection Program, or PPP. That’s on top of the $90 billion to $400 billion believed to have been stolen from the $900 billion Covid unemployment relief program — at least half taken by international fraudsters — as NBC News reported last year. And another $80 billion potentially pilfered from a separate Covid disaster relief program....
