Re: Hypocrisy?
Then there's the Republican promise to ban abortion.
Reagan was the first to make the promise. Once elected he turned his back on the anti-abortion crowd. But it's still been central to the Republican platform ever since.
Bush II promised a constitutional ban on abortion during his election campaign. For a couple years he controlled the House AND Senate AND White House, and the Democrats couldn't have stopped him. But he... forgot? Along with every other Republican in Congress?
I mention this because once again the control the House AND Senate AND White House. And once again..... silence.
That silence can't be pinned on Trump. It's up to Republicans in Congress to introduce and pass a bill.

But then they would lose the anti-abortion single issue voter.

POTUSes can easily get bills introduced, too. We can fault both Congress and Dolt .45 for hypocrisy and inaction.

Master debater lying Ted keeps changing his story about his mater de bater likes and dislikes.
But we do know that what he says ain't what he does

"In its brief to the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, Cruz and his team argued that the plaintiffs challenging the law, a group of online retailers and Austin stores that sold sex toys, were not protected under the 14th Amendment’s right to privacy. In fact, he continued, banning obscene devices was in the public interest, and the government should be granted “police powers” for the purposes of “discouraging prurient interests in sexual gratification, combating the commercial sale of sex, and protecting minors.” Furthermore, using “obscene devices,” the state argued, was akin to “hiring a willing prostitute or engaging in consensual bigamy.”
Deserves repeating

Re: Hypocrisy?
That reminds me of a pre-election quote:
Trump is Mussolini, Cruz is Hitler. When choosing your fascist dictator, always go for the most incompetent one.

Re: Hypocrisy?
Whats up with these conservative dudes like Ted Cruz and their obsessions with what other people do in the bedroom? As a woman could you imagine being married to someone like that? I bet the sex is shit. They probably never get real freaky in the sack and only bang in a way that would be acceptable to Jesus.billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2017 1:40 pm

As with Mr.B/homerfobe's obvious closeted gayness, public opposition to things like sex toys usually indicates chronic and extreme use of things like sex toys.

Re: Hypocrisy?
Uber-lefty Norman Lear was making his politics clear, but his genius was in making the show relate to everyone by:
Making bigot Archie kind and wise in his own way;
Making oppressed Edith the strongest of the bunch;
Making young and female Gloria the most effective peacemaker;
Making smartest Michael so dumb as to often be an arrogant jerk.
Doesn't matter if this let some have different heroes, none could avoid being impacted by the underlying message of tolerance and intelligence. A lesser creator would have made a show that only we lefties watched.

It wasn't just dads. I was at East Tennessee State, and many of the dorm girls admired Archie.Boatrocker wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2017 2:53 pmMy dad was a big Archie fan, and he believed that, too.billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2017 2:19 pm. . . Note: eastern Tennessee was a shining example of bigotry and really old fashion norms.

Supposedly Trump apolgized to Erdogan for the brawl between Turkish bodyguards and protestors.
If this is true, the president of the United States apolgized for Americans fighting back against Turkish bodyguards instigating a fight.
I hope this isn't true. I don't really know how this can be confirmed. It's Erdogan sayig this, and I doubt Trump would confirm. So who knows.

Definitely going to need some serious, verifiable evidence of "trump apologized." That sounds like BULLSHIT.

Re: Hypocrisy?
Yeah I think it's fake. There's no way Trump would apologize. Although I could see him apologizing to Erdogan or Putin. Dude seems to have a hard on for strong man dictator types.
Gonna have to file this one under unverifiable and move o n.

Re: Hypocrisy?
I'm inclined to believe that Dolt .45 said something that could be interpreted as an apology.
He has never condemned the Turkish attack.
He sucks up to dictators.
He lies all the time.
Erdogan would be taking an unnecessary risk by lying.

BBC: Erdogan protesters beaten and ejected from New York speech
That wasn't in May; that was yesterday.Mr Erdogan was addressing supporters in Turkish at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square when he was interrupted by several demonstrators.
[...]
In footage from the speech on Thursday, protesters are seen being pushed and punched in the head as they are ejected from the venue by suited men.
[...]
Another Twitter user, Gissur Simonarson, posted images taken from amateur video footage showing a number of protesters being violently attacked.

Re: Hypocrisy?
A certain subset of NFL fans: "Players kneeling during the national anthem are disrespecting our veterans and all they sacrificed"... after they voted in a man who said he liked soldiers that don't get captured in reference to POWs, and also got into a feud with a deceased veterans gold star family.
Also worth mentioning: Trump shared a picture of Patrick Tillman, a former NFL player that joined the military in response to 9-11, on his twitter. Pat Tillman admired Noam Chomsky, an athiest, and leaned heavily left even calling the Iraq war "Ilegal as fuck". Call me crazy, but I think Patrick Tillman would've been in support of players kneeling for the anthem.
