I’m not sure anyone needs a Jim Cantore to cover weather.

I don’t know what point he was making, but one of the many weather sayings often quoted by Middle Tennessee farmers predicted that lightning in January meant snow in May which would be extremely unusual as far south as Tennessee.
I only witnessed lightning in January once. It did snow that May.

Thunder snow is pretty cool, as well as rare.

I can only imagine thunder snow.

Oh no, it’s freezing here, oh no.

60s and sunny yesterday

Today’s high was 56 at 1:00 a.m.
It was 37 at 5:00 a.m.
32 now at 7:00 a.m. Central
Projected to continue dropping until
31 at 8 and 30 by 10 10:00 a.m.
So far the rain is water and is also expected to stop by 10:00 a.m.

High today 40
Low tonight 20

Will we have icy roads remains to be seen.

And there in lies my primary reason for not moving to Canada in 1968. I’m a real chicken-shit about cold weather.

So today is maybe the rainiest day ever in San Diego County. Oceanside got 2.5 inches; some places got almost 4. Look at the "river" in the pic below. Not a river. That's a freeway about 2 miles from us. Lot of flooding in several downtown locations and, in a change from the usual flooding only in low economic areas, high-dollar Coronado Island flooded too.

They have those. It's called a house boat on a trailer.
A real motorhome that works like a duck boat (without the flipping and sinking part) would be fun, though.

Think about it. Looks like you'll be getting 4-5" over the next 10 days:
https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/u ... 20,-117.37
Deluge on Monday. Gonna have to replace those palms with ferns
Then, there are these:
Small Craft Advisory
High Surf Advisory
Flood Watch
Flood Advisory
River Flood Warning
https://www.wunderground.com/severe/us/ ... 20,-117.37
Lots of flooding/mudslide vids up on YT.

Meanwhile, 62 tomorrow here . . . on Groundhog Day!
Zero snow so far, after zero all of last winter and I'm not sure how long before that :(

Rainy all day today, but much less damage in the area overall than last time. It's getting soggy, though, and I wouldn't be surprised that somebody has mudslides before it's dry again.
