Good news/kindness only (please) thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Braves fan miraculously saves kid from getting hit with an flying bat
Christopher Horner
@Hornerfoto1

Sports photojournalist - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

The two frames showing just how close the bat was to the boy's head.

Great photography! I thought it popped over the kid's head at first, but instead it wrapped around his left ear.

Comments:
The Bat saw that guy's arm and thought: "oh shit this is going to hurt".
Dude be like

Image
if that dude wasn't his dad before he is now
if he was watching the game instead of playing on his phone,it wouldn't have been such a close call
Totally agree, bet that bat will think twice before it goes flying into the crowd again!
I love how the idiots bitching for the KID "put down his phone" are undoubtedly posting on their phones, ignoring life also...
disappointed the dude with the Incredibles baseball jersey wasn't more heroic.
And the rest of the story... "I drop my beer for no man, woman, child, or bat."

Image
yeah everyone, listen to all your grandfathers and put the phone down.
That guy's arm has gotta be hurting today.
that kid better grow up to be an awesome researcher who helps cure diseases or something equivalent.
I think it's a woman and I don't agree, but since I hate FSU:
guy in FSU hat in front is a punk could've done something other than duck

The kid's in attendance at a national past-time venue performing the newest national past-time and not paying attention to what's going on around him. (the woman behind him also paid good money to get a stadium seat so she could do her smartphone thing)

To be fair though, this is a baseball game. That bat flying through the air was probably the most exciting thing that happened during the whole game.

Or taking pictures. What a novel idea.

The women behind might have been taking pictures. I don't think the kid was.

Here's a good news/kind thought: Not everything you see at Walmart is bad.

I know, I know, it ain't Walmart, but it was posted to People of Walmart. . .still.

My bad.

Though the points made about paying attention rather than doing anything with a phone still stand.

Stores have long had handicapped parking. Now they have parking labelled "Parking for new and expecting mothers." No objection, in fact I think it's great. But I think that the rest of the parking should be labelled "Parking for people who were a little more careful in life."

Hey, how about "Parking for possibly new and expecting fathers pending the DNA test"?

Because they can't set up a Maury show in every parking lot.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.
At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less

NOW --------
Enough of that crap . .
The donkey later came back and bit the sh*t out of the farmer who had tried to bury him.
The gash from the bite got infected, and the farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock.

MORAL FROM TODAY'S LESSON:
When you do something wrong and try to cover your ass, it always comes back to bite you.
Don't take life too seriously; No one gets out alive

Politifact: Did we really reduce extreme poverty by half in 30 years?

... By the current metric of $1.90 a day, the decline is even greater. According to the World Bank, 1.9 billion people (or 37.1 percent of the global population) lived on less than $1.90 a day in 1990, compared to a projected 702 million (9.6 percent) in 2015. That’s a 74.1 percent decline in 25 years....
$702 million x 365 days = $256,230,000,000 = less than 1/5 of our military budget to lift everyone making more than $0.95 per day out of extreme poverty. Double the amount, still less than 2/5 of our military budget, and extreme poverty ceases to exist.

Missing California Mom found alive

I'm thankful she was found alive, but call me a skeptic due to some of these missing persons cases in the past that, after intensive investigation were found to be made up.

" (Mrs.) Papini was found "bound with restraints," according to (Sheriff) Bosenko, but was able to get help from a passing motorist.
Authorities are looking for "a dark-colored SUV with two Hispanic females armed with a handgun," according to the sheriff."

My take.... 2 women with a gun? An indescribable SUV? Restrained, but able to make it to safety? My guess is she went on a fling and the possibly invented story just ain't gonna hold water...I'm hope I'm wrong.
