Be careful out there.North Carolina Is Being Ridiculous When It Comes to Speed Limits
If you're planning on driving through North Carolina anytime between now and April 3, keep a eagle eye on the speedo needle. Or better yet, just hold off on driving in the state altogether. Because for the next week and a half, police in the state will be ticketing drivers for breaking the speed limit by as little as one mile an hour....

Meet Graham, Who Survives Car Crashes So Others Can Live

Given the toll that crashes take on those of breeding age and younger, is this what we're evolving towards?
Fwiw, I get the "rib cage replete with 'sacks' to function like an airbag" part, but why do they have nipples? Poor JTA.

Dammit! You beat me to it! I thought of conveying a message to JTA myself when I first saw the picture . . . then I saw your comment!Vrede too wrote:Fwiw, I get the "rib cage replete with 'sacks' to function like an airbag" part, but why do they have nipples? Poor JTA.

Tesla Model S "Engine"

Actually the two are largely interchangeable: A machine designed to convert one form of energy into mechanical energy.Seth Milner wrote:(Note: An "engine" is an internal combustion device; shown is a "motor; a device that employs an armature and field core)
Catapults, trebuchets and battering rams were called "siege engines." Early steam engines had external combustion. A fire engine in its original form was merely a water pump, with the engine being transported to the fire by horses. In fact when the internal combustion engine was invented, the term "motor" was initially used to distinguish it from the steam engine.
Why is everyone looking at me like that?
Sorry.

Because, internet servers are powered by internal combustion engines, much like what is found in your car. You gotta keep 'em gassed up, and also don't forget to change the oil every 10,000 google searches or three months, whichever comes first, and the internets will keep purring like the day she was birthed from her mothers womb.Seth Milner wrote:![]()
I wondered who would be the first to respond and/or debunk me on the difference; that's why I put quote marks on "Engine"

The hamsters powering the servers burn food for fuel, as do the monkeys doing the actual searching.

Re: The car thread ...
That settlement covers 2.0 litre engines only.
But US authorities have been notified of cheats in VW, Audi and Porsche's 3.0 litre engines. The engines would shut down emissions control systems after about 22 minutes. Methods to measure emissions usually last about 20 minutes.
So, look for a second settlement. Plus similar settlements in other countries.
