Guns, race, religion, terror, wingnut thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Well, at least he didn't complain about chem-trails, I suppose.
Dammit JTA! That's exactly what I was thinking when I read this post on the previous page; although I was going to add that chemical castration is achieved by the creation of chem-trails to perform the dastardly deed covertly!

I've got a whole slew of friends on Facebook that wholesale buy into that stuff. It's super entertaining. Basically, they think they're "awakened" and operate at higher consciousness than everyone else, who are mere sheep.

It's funny because its like just because what you believe is contrary to whatever most people accept and just doesn't necessarily make what you believe true. By default they accept most conspiracy theories as truth and lambast people for ridiculing them. Then when asked for proof they point you to some.obviously unreliable website.

They're also all about wearing some guy Fawkes masks. It's such a joke they don't realize they're just caricatures of themselves. They think they're gonna change the system. Yeah guys, last people I want running the show is a bunch of man children donning some guy Fawkes masks that live in their mothers basements.

Granted, good for them for having a cause... I guess.

Imma post some of this sometime so we can all have a collective laugh.

Just so. You have to wonder if they realize unlike the comic book movie where the guy dressed up like Guy Fawkes brings down an evil dystopian theocracy, in the real world Guy Fawkes was trying to install one. He was a fighter for Spain and the Catholic Church. His goal was to end the slightly more egalitarian Protestant revolution in England by restoring Catholic domination.

You have to wonder if they believe the premise that Parliament building is blown up and presto, everyone is free. That the military that had no problem firing on civilians suddenly doesn't because one single person is removed from the chain of command.

You have to wonder if they realize that the real-life Guy Fawkes's bomb plot failed. He accomplished nothing except to spawn "Guy Fawkes Day", which still ridicules him and burns him in effigy over 400 years later

You have to wonder if they realize the real-life fate of Guy Fawkes: Caught, tortured, convicted, his genitals cut off and burned before his eyes before being drawn and quartered.

He's a symbol as badly chosen as the Tea Party, in reality one of the few if not the only protest against LOWER taxes.

It's creepy how cult like some of them become, nearly worshipping that stupid time-warner mask as their symbol. Like one dude literally had an Xmas tree decorated with guy Fawkes masks. There was a big discussion about the meaning of the mask for their " movement". Come on people! You're becomong the very thing you bemoan!

So, a bunch in jail, only one dead, support for the Hammonds is now radioactive, the last YeeHawdi is a nutcase and even Cliven Bundy finally arrested. That worked out pretty well. Good on the Fed/OR LEOs.

Yeah, but I'm betting there's going to be pleas offered, charges dropped or reduced, general harrummphing, and nobody gets their hands slapped very hard. :(

That would only push the Presidential campaign to the next election cycle and make it more likely. The Tea Party has barely discovered the power of martyrdom with Kim Davis. Martyrdom is going to be BIG for them in 2020 and beyond.

West Virginia Republicans are trying to squeeze a new through the state legislature that would literally eliminate laws if you can prove Jesus made you do it. That’s right, if they get their way, you’ll be able to cook meth, rob people, rape, pillage and murder if you can show that your religious beliefs, or more specifically your Christian beliefs, not only allow it but require it.

I cooked that meth because my church needed a way to stay up all night and worship Jesus, your honor. That’s what’s called ‘religious freedom.'”

“I had to kill my husband, your honor. He got a job at a bank as a money changer. He was an affront to God.”

“The Lord appeared to me and demanded I rape her, your honor. He says our child is the second coming of the messiah.”

well, Mississippi passed their jesus take the wheel act, so why not

Murphy Man Charged In Oregon Standoff

Burns, OR -- A man from Western North Carolina is one of 25 people now federally charged in the standoff at a wildlife refuge in Oregon.

Jason Blomgren of Murphy is charged with felony count of conspiracy to interfere with federal workers, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Oregon. That is the same charge the other 24 suspects face as well.

Local media outlets report that Blomgren left North Carolina, picked up a person in Tennessee and arrived in Oregon on Jan. 10. He allegedly remained on the refuge until Jan. 26.

On Wednesday, Blomgren was arrested in Medquite, Nevada (sic, Mesquite), near the Bundy ranch. He appeared in federal court on Thursday.

The final four occupiers who turned themselves in on Thursday are expected to be arraigned on Friday.

it took long enough. I guess someone finally realized that these idiots would just keep on if they weren't stopped.

I do like the way the feds handed it - this time

now they need to do something about this whole sovereign citizen movement - at least stop paying them to take it foster children

ALmost forgot - WNC REPRESENT!!! Along with the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooter, I'm just bursting with pride.

I've never heard of "conspiracy to interfere with federal workers", the FBI site says, "Your search did not match any documents," and brief googling didn't work when I searched the phrase. Is this a felony that could also be applied to nonviolent protesters or do the guns and threats make the difference?

Thanks, I found 1556. Interference With Ingress And Egress -- 18 U.S.C. § 1752 and 1555. Disruption Of Government Business -- 18 U.S.C. 1752 there (things I've done a bunch of but not been charged with), but those have different wording and it doesn't say whether they're felonies.

There's also "Forcible interference against a Federal officer", but that would be a stretch for nonviolent action.

"25 charged" now. I must have missed some.

Exclusive: Oregon occupiers warn authorities of booby traps at refuge

If true, all can have very serious conspiracy charges added.
If not true, some can have serious communicating threats charges added.
Good.
... Their father, Cliven Bundy, flew to Oregon on Wednesday to support the movement but was arrested at the Portland airport on charges stemming from the 2014 standoff on his Nevada ranch.

The official said law enforcement arrested Cliven Bundy at the airport because they knew he would be unarmed and the charges against him were ready.
Smart FBI, dumb Bundy.

Bundy Ranch to Las Vegas, NV - 1.5 hours
Flight time from Las Vegas, Nevada to Portland, Oregon - 2 hours
Airport time, both ends - 2 hours or so
Portland, OR to Malheur National Wildlife Refuge - 5.5 hours
Total - 11 hours

Driving from Bundy Ranch to Malheur National Wildlife Refuge - 12.5 hours
So, that 1.5 hours saved cost Cliven big time. Idiot.

Edit, opps, from another forum:
(Vrede too) wrote:
He was going to the jail in Portland. Other than that you're right, dumb Bundy, and it appears it runs in the family. Watch the charges escalate when someone is hurt trying to find those booby traps.
Ah, my bad, thanks. I thought they were being held in jails closer to the Refuge.
Still, the hours saved aren't worth the meek, unarmed, predictable arrest.
