Baylor won't be playing KansasVrede too wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 12:42 pmYeah, that's why I placed the Pac12 tourney below the Big12 and the SEC.billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 12:12 pmTrue - those will be great games, but there are still 3 top ten playing against each other in the sec, only two in the Big 12 and then no top 10 games as #2 plays #13 in the PAC 12.
The 3 top ten teams playing make for a great SEC tourney, but barring upsets (1) Auburn will only face one of them, (2) TN or (3) KY, if it beats (4) Ark (AP 15). So, we may see the final AP stay the same - 2 Arizona, 3 Baylor, 4 Auburn, barring upsets. Idk what will happen with 1 Gonzaga after it beat (33) San Francisco and 17 Saint Mary's in the West Coast tourney, but it may stay on top. Or, there could be a shuffle based on win quality.
Even with upsets it's hard to imagine 7 Duke sliding into the top 4. The next best ACC team is 25 UNC. It may even lose ground since the Big East tourney is higher quality - 8 Villanova, 11 Providence, 20 UConn, (34) Seton Hall.

Arizona, Villanova, and Providence all dodged a bullet. I'm crushed by the Baylor loss, crushed. PTL.

Oh nooo! Not even close. Oh well, being ranked (#25) was nice for the week that it lasted.
#8 Villanova barely escaped #20 UConn.

As in most of the games against tough teams this year, they chose to be the stompee rather than the stomper. Probably be out of the Dance first round.

Beating Duke was a fluke? Good luck to SDSU (3 seed) vs Boise St (1) in the Mountain West final.

GO:
AP #24 Iowa > IN (semi)
#7 Duke > VA Tech (final)
(29) SDSU > (26) Boise St (final)

Oh, I wouldn't say fluke, exactly. Either of those teams are capable of rising out of ashes to beat the other on any given day, and a lot of things went right for Carolina that day, including Duke being a bit off. But Carolina was clearly erratic and lacked consistency throughout the season. Used to be, if they were within 10 points with 2 minutes left, they had a good chance. Every UNC player grew up with the legend of the 17-second miracle in '74.

8 seed 20-11 TAMU, zero AP votes, also stomped 4 seed AP #15 Ark today. Cinderella. They'll play the KY-TN winner tomorrow.billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 2:18 pmAuburn won't be playing Arkansas

GO:
AP 1 vote Davidson (1) > Richmond (6) for the Atlantic 10 crown. Gotta go local even if it's Presbyterian. Steph Curry's alma mater.
AP 0 votes Texas A&M (8) > AP #9 (tie) Tennessee (2) for the SEC crown. Normally I would choose the more local and less Texas Vols, but who doesn't love a Cinderella team? Plus, it makes Auburn look better to have lost to the champ.
AP #24 Iowa (5) > AP #9 (tie) Purdue (3) for the Big Ten crown.

AP #24 Iowa (5) > AP #9 (tie) Purdue (3) for the Big Ten crown.
Top 3 shooters
0 for 14. KD
5 for 12 Wendell
5 for 16 Jabari
That's 31 missed shots, at least 25 of them wide open shots from our best shooters. Auburn beat Auburn
KD had 1 blocked and missed 2 or 3 due to a&m defense
All the rest were wide open shots that are usually made.
As I've said from the beginning of the season we are inconsistent. We were 20 points behind with 10 minutes left and got it to one point before a couple of bad breaks and intentional fouls left us 5 points behind.
I figured it would be Tennessee or Kentucky, but knew making it through the tournament would be a long shot.
Maybe this loss with a truly embarrassing 1st half and a stellar last 10 minutes will help in the tournament. We'll see which team shows.

I love a Cinderella team too, I just hate that this one is from Texas.
I'll be pulling for Tennessee.
If just those 3 players that I posted had hit their average percentages we would have won by at least 10. That said, the percentages that they did shoot are not atypical of past performances.
Remember, we we 20 down with 10 minutes left and pulled to within 1, or maybe it was 2.

Re: College basketball
Awww, Richmond came back from 5 down and took the lead with a 2+1 with 19 seconds left, ended up winning by 2. Commentators say that Davidson goes to MM anyhow, but it's not guaranteed. May see an early exit.Vrede too wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 10:52 amGO:
