Re: President* Trump
No, that's US Republicans and Putin's crowd.
Both are heavily in favor of socialism for the rich. (Anarcho-capitalism for everyone else, but they don't count. And in any case anarcho-capitalism, like communism, involves the elimination of the state.) Both champion wealth redistribution.
Now do you understand the attraction?

(at least) Four law firms turn down Trump defense...
http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/ ... &ocid=iehp
While they also offered some general blather for not taking on Trump (client conflicts, busy litigation schedule, need to get boat washed...) it seems to come down to being "...concerned Trump would make public statements against their legal advice that hurt his position in the investigation."
"The concerns were, 'The guy won't pay and he won't listen,' " one lawyer close to the White House told Yahoo.

This is not news to anyone who has paid attention to this asshole in the last 30-odd fucking years. There are no surprises about him. If you've had a TV since 1985+/- you have no excuse for not knowing who this lying, thieving mofo is.O Really wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 1:02 pm(at least) Four law firms turn down Trump defense...

True, but different people have seen different things. For everybody that saw his "you're fired" act as that of a bellicose bully, there's another who saw the same act as a "decisive businessman." For everybody who sees a rude, classless caricature, another sees a guy who "doesn't pull punches."Boatrocker wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 6:16 pm

I admit to being somewhat surprised by the sheer level of incompetence and nuttiness (but not the "lying, thieving"), not sure that I thought it was even possible.

Re: President* Trump
I always thought Trump was an obnoxious jerk (in the handful of times I thought of him at all, but I wouldn't have thought for a minute he was as stupid and incompetent as he is. I sometimes look at his administration, ignore all the policy issues and consider only what he does and how he does it. By no objective means of evaluation does he do anything that would help him accomplish whatever he wants - even if that's only to get good approval numbers. He doesn't learn from experience; he doesn't learn from supportive counsel. His management style is totally opposite to what every.single.expert.in.the.effin.world would tell him would be effective in his circumstances. He undercuts his own message, and generates uncertainty, doubt, and contention among his own team. He lies even when the truth would serve him better. He pays no attention to cultural/diplomatic conventions that can make or break his ability to get support from countries that he isn't President* of. None of that has anything to do with party, ideology, or sore losing. Simple crazy stupid incompetence.

From TV:
"I like my presidents like I like my covfefe - strong and black."
Represented by Bannon (alt right) and Jared Kushner (uber-rich), "there is a war between two factions of the American right, both of which are truly awful."

Sure. And I have identified all those assholes in my personal sphere and I am reclassifying them appropriately. There's only so much STUPID I am willing to tolerate.O Really wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 7:51 pmTrue, but different people have seen different things. Re: President* Trump
Such stupidity and incompetence arise from a lifetime spent in a rich boy bubble, where reality never intrudes. Where all he has to do is bang the table, stomp his feet and bellow, "I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT!" Where money and bullying are the answer to everything. Where he doesn't have to be troubled by rules. Where he was never taught otherwise.
Warren Buffet is not, in my estimation, the benign old gentleman his public persona would have us believe he is, but he does appear to understand frugality, manners, protocol, class and the rule of law (at least to the extent that he can't legally manueuver around it). Same might be reasonably said for obscenely rich folk like the Gates, Richard Branson and Elon Musk. the trumphole is simply a brutish, dimwitted boy-man who gives every indication he was raised by wolves in a very extravagant, tacky, gold-plated cave. He is minimally potty-trained and can (as far as we know) dress himself and tie his own shoes, but is really no more sophisticated than the average ill-behaved 4 year old.
I will not lie down.
I will not go quietly.

Comey is testifying publicly in front of a senate committee tomorrow.
My prediction: Status quo. Nothing that'll change the tone of the Trump/Russia investigation.
Thoughts?

Re: President* Trump
Given what's released so far, I'd say it's not good news for Trump. While Comey is declining to offer a legal opinion on whether Trump attempted to obstruct justice, he will repeat his former statement that Trump asked him to help make the investigation go away, and will reiterate that Trump more than once demanded a "loyalty" pledge. So probably nothing that hasn't been out before, and thus nothing that will by itself show the smoking gun. But stating in testimony under oath the things that have already been alleged is pretty powerful. And then, he's got the Senator's questions and grandstanding to deal with, too, which could color what he has to say - either for the better or worse, not likely better.

Comedy's opening statement- many sources, though I don't know why the hell it would be released ahead of time.

Because, like him or hate him, Comey is waaaay more politically savvy than the Trumpster. Trump was having (for him) a pretty good day - talking about infrastructure, naming new FBI Chief and some right-wing judges - and then nobody is paying attention to any of that because of Comey's release. Stole the day and put Trump on defense again.

Re: President* Trump
Trump and his gang have been escalating their smear campaign against Comey as the Senate hearings get closer, so it's best not to wait.
While everything in Comey's statement will be made public at the hearings, you can be damned sure that the Trump gang will misquote and misrepresent it. The initial misquotes and misrepresentations are what people will remember. So it's best to get a copy into the press's hands ahead of time so that they can spot and point out the misquotes and misrepresentations. Welcome to Washington.

Got it.
I'm hoping that Comey's testimony delivers, that the event exceeds the feverish anticipation.

Can you spell "You're Fired"? (impeached) I thought you could. Prez Chump is about to find he's no longer on a scripted reality show. (I hope )

Re: President* Trump
Sort of implied by your posts - Dominating at least 2 news cycles is better than 1. Leaving aside the politics of the moment, it seems to me to be a good thing to give a committee more time to prepare questions based on the prepared statement.
