The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Italy's bishops have adopted a policy, with backing from the Vatican, that states they are not obliged to inform police officers.

So congratulations to the faithful! There will be less opportunity for the heathen to criticize the Church for raping little boys and then having them castrated - the rapes being entirely their fault - when it gets reported.

How in the hell is that not institutionalized pedophilia.

Alright, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit.... but damn....
Did you hear about the new Exorcist Movie? They get the Devil to come in to take the Priest out of the child.

Sorry. I forgot you're the expert here. Forgive my mistake?

That might be a guy in drag.
I'm sure that would be your preference, nttawwt.
You're the one wearing the faggot colors, not me. It's your video posting, not mine.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Homerfobe's gaydar meets this standard.
Extraordinary senses you've got there strongsmell. Especially from someone who experiences brain freeze in his chosen climate. Oh wait, I forgot. You got to have a brain before it can freeze. Sorry, my bad. Didn't mean to insult you by insinuating you might have some sense.

So far, it's been a great Easter to us that recognize it's significance, starting with the 6 a.m. sunrise service at Chimney Rock, and finishing up with a wonderful service at church. Y'all should'a been there.

Chocolate bunnies, Easter eggs, or baskets were not to be found anywhere, no matter how persistent I was in my search.
Why, I didn't even see anyone there showing off their new "Easter outfits"...... imagine that. -0-?

Good times.

I spent my Easter fishing. I had a catch so big it broke my crankbait... biggest pine tree I've ever caught in my life.

About the only way I'd get out of bed at 6 a.m. is if it was on fire. Chocolate
bunnies, yum. I found one right on my dining room table. It's a miracle!!!!

Have done it every morning for the last 40 years. I thought it would end after I retired...not.

I will say I can remember in years past that I woke up on fire....but, alas that memory too, has.........diminished.....

Some people are morning people, so it shouldn't bother them that much, for
everyone else it's a pain. I always hated getting up when it was still dark
outside. Yuck.

Always up before the sunrise. This morning, the moon, Antares (heart of the Scorpion), Saturn, Mars, and Venus. If I wake up to daylight, I panic.

Early am is when I check in and see what y'all are up to.
Good morning.

Even though I was an early riser, I often wished I could have slept just a tad longer....I hated getting up before breakfast!

The early worm gets the bird.
Folks who get up before they have to may have other bad habits, as well. ;0
People are crazy and times are strange. I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range.
I used to care, but, things have changed.

Well, to each their own. I was still up when that blood red moon was
supposed to be there, I believe it was a little before 1 a.m., but I forgot
all about it. I think there's another one in October. Guess I can wait.

That's good to know. I didn't think about the weather since I forgot about
looking outside in the first place. Looks pretty good for the rest of this week.

Too cloudy for the Lyrids this morning. Seems the weather never cooperates with celestial events.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, religion has nothing to do with it. Is your wife not a beauty queen to you?...that smart kid thingy though has some merit....

That's why the Bible says "Let him that hath an ear, hear".....it doesn't say "Let him that hath an eye, see".

I've never counted 'em, but God did not set up separate religions or denominations.

The largest majority of "religions" do worship a Deity that even with differing names, is still God, the Creator of Life.

But....as you say.....How they worship Him and revere Him is a different story.

Yup. They were largely created independently by different peoples.

Nearby peoples - like those in Europe and the middle east - tended to evolve and borrow religious mythology from each other, and adapt for the times. Christianity evolved heavily in its first 400 years after it's Jewish doomsday cult beginnings.

Those further away - the Americas and Australia - had their own religions with no sign of inheriting anything whatsoever from the Old World.

Monotheism is in fashion these days, but that's recent. And not just the Norse, Germanic, British, Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Hindu and New World pantheons: Christianity traces its roots back through Judaism to polytheism, with numerous traces and references still in the Christian Bible.

Way over my head; and more information than I really need, or care to know. Thanks, though.
