The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

You missed my point....

I meant the person in the story was ready for the walls lined with padding; hence the boing, boing; you know, that bouncing off the walls thingy?

So the Pope just made The Exorcist canon.

I just hope he doesn't do the same for The Exorcist II.

Q: What do you get when a non-Christian appears on Fox News?

A: 8000 death threats on the Fox News Facebook page!

Time.com: Fox News’ Facebook Page Overrun by Death Threats

Examples: (dish.andrewsullivan.com)

Stay classy, Christians!

Touching; I especially like Joe and Chris's more eloquent expression of their feelings. And the irony of Raylene's self condemnation is just precious. She's a real sweetheart. I wonder what church those folks go to?

Blair Scott, a spokesman for the American Atheists, Inc., was subjected to over 8,000 death threats and other violent rhetoric after appearing on Fox News.

Now do any of you know what I mean by "just because you call yourself a Christian......"? Has any of this shameful rhetoric sunk in?

The same applies to you. There are plenty who would point at your hatred and bigotry say the same thing.

Those Christians - they obviously consider themselves Christians - outnumber you 8000 to one. They're a better representation of "what is a Christian" than you are.

There's no shortage of directives in the Bible to back their death threats. You've simply cherry-picked your hatreds from the Bible a little differently.

Pat Robertson tells mother: Your son’s stomach pains are caused by a witch ancestor

With his Christian Broadcasting Network broadcasting in 100 nations in dozens of languages, viewed by more than 360 million people, it's hard to claim that this isn't mainstream Christianity either.

awwwwww..... :(

So cite when/where I've advocated killing anyone over their sexual orientation, strawman.
My "hatred and bigotry" is based on belief that that is a perverse lifestyle, and that God ordained marriage to be between a man and a woman....
but you don't believe in God, who you view as a hater and bigot, so there.

I've known what you mean since I was about 7 or 8 years old; this was when I began to notice (when attending church with my mom) that quite a lot of the folks there at church acted differently at church than they acted when not at church......I could not then, nor can I now, reconcile this. I thought then, as I do now, that you should not try to be righteous on a part time basis. Amen.

Don't get too excited; this initial skepticism I felt as a child has bloomed into a full blown rejection of organized religion, which I have nurtured lo this last half century or so. :)
