Words cannot express the contempt.
That thing doesn't even work under the definition of "rat rod." He could have stuffed the motor in the front, where he'd have some version of an
MG-C ish sort of thing with an overweight oversize engine making every turn an adventure in spin control. Or, he could have spent all that time and money building something actually driveable.

Re: The car thread ...
When we went to the John Day fossil park and Painted Hills, we stayed at a b&b type place, actually b/no b, in the town of Mitchell OR. https://paintedhillsvacation.com/ Mitchell has a population of 170 people, and a mayor who runs a coffee stand. They're working on recovering from the vanished tourists during covid, and have a very interesting old-timey general store that sells pretty much anything and a brewery/restaurant that would fit in very well in Bend or Asheville. https://www.tigertownbrewing.com/
Anyway, close to where we stayed I found the '37 Ford pickup in the high grass, as well as a '63 Ford Galaxy. Both, along with the run-down buildings they were close to were abandoned. The '37 has been done pretty nicely and is in fairly good shape except for sitting outside for a few years. The Galaxy's paint has surface patina but no major body work would be required. Interior needs re-work, but isn't really awful. Seems to be a situation where the original owner died, whoever got the cars either doesn't care to keep them up, can't afford it, or has no clue as to their potential value.
So I passed what I could find out along to SIL, who is going to look into it. He says the Galaxie could be very profitable because of the relatively little amount of expensive work necessary, and the '37 could be a quick turnaround. Fun projects.

I never knew that Rolling coal is an intentional act. Assholes. "Prius repellent", but Teslas aren't mentioned. EPA-illegal, but only Maryland and New Jersey among "our" states have an additional ban. I doubt that any state troopers or local cops enforce EPA law.billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 10:54 amTrue, but I don't know if they were directing anything at me, or just being morons at large.

Most of the time when I see this, rather than being outraged, I notice for a split second then almost immediately forget about it and go about my day. I think this is probably how most people feel, unless you're on a bike or something and it causes you injury.billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 3:28 pm"Practitioners often additionally modify their vehicles by installing smoke switches"Vrede too wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 3:00 pmI never knew that Rolling coal is an intentional act. Finding joy in trying to make someone else angry or upset is really indicative of a severe lack of emotional imaturity. It accomplishes and changes absolutely nothing.
I asked an overseas friend that's been living in the US for about three years if she thought Americans in general are dumb. And she responded with an "absolutely".

Aw, man - that's awful. At least the car was a replica - "real" Cobras had an aluminum body, but the replicas are fibreglass. Still sickening, though.billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Tue Jun 21, 2022 8:53 amThere's dumb

"the automotive equivalent of The Walking Dead"Tesla Model S catches fire three weeks after getting sent to junkyard
Firefighters ended up submerging the car in a water-filled pit
In what sounds like the automotive equivalent of The Walking Dead, a Tesla Model S caught fire three weeks after it was involved in an accident and sent to a junkyard. Firefighters had a difficult time putting out the blaze, and they ended up having to submerge the battery.
Posting on its official Twitter account, the Metro Fire Department of Sacramento explained that it sent crews to extinguish a vehicle fire in a wrecking yard. When they got there, firefighters found a burning Model S that had been wrecked in a non-fire-related accident about three weeks before. Why the electric sedan caught fire after sitting for nearly a month is unclear, but Metro Fire says the Tesla put up a fight.
"Crews knocked the fire down but it kept re-igniting/off-gassing in the battery compartment," it wrote on Twitter.
Firefighters found a creative way to control the blaze: they used dirt to create a pit, placed the burning car in it, and filled it with water. The fire was put out after "well over an hour of firefighting operations," and it doesn't look like there's much left of the Model S or its battery.
EV fires can be difficult to put out. Earlier in 2022, a massive cargo ship named Felicity Ace caught fire while crossing the Atlantic Ocean and burned for days before sinking. While the cause of the fire hasn't been determined, or at least published, the captain of a port on the Azorean island of Faial told Reuters that the lithium-ion batteries fitted to the electric vehicles that were on board were keeping the fire alive.

Unrelated, I think:

Batteries and gasoline can definitely burn.
Unlike gasoline, batteries keep getting better.
