Trump

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Nothing personifies that ill-informed simplistic view than thinking that a person who has never held public office should be elected to the highest elective office in the land. Or that holding any upper level political office is easy for amateurs. Or that running a government is anything at all like running a business. Or, for that matter, that building a 20-foot solid wall along a border will keep out the 60% who get into the country in places other than trying to sneak across the river.

I shit you not, when I bring up how inexperienced Trump is, people will tout that as a positive trait.

Tell them that you'll be their doctor or auto mechanic for a good rate.

People with difficult veins often ask me if I'm good at starting IVs. I am, but I'll sometimes reply, "I don't know, I've never tried is before but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night." It seems to ease their dread some.

Hey guys,

Remember when Republicans cared deeply about electing a candidate with family values, and also how they bemoaned Obama because he had very little experience?

You're only noticing this now?

They constantly attacked Clinton for cheating on his wife.... And then against Obama (an ideal family values candidate) their candidate picks were McCain, Giuliani and Gingrich (all three cheated on their wives.)

They attacked Obama over having little experience (though it was pretty good by Republican standards) - and selected Sarah Palin to run the White House in an emergency.

They kept falsely claiming that he ineligible to be President base on one of the two popular interpretations of "natural born citizen" (Obama met both) - and then ran McCain (who didn't meet either interpretation.)

They claimed that Obama's foreign-born father made him ineligible to be President - and then ran Mitt Romney (foreign-born father) against him.

They STILL attack him over "ObamaCare" - even though it's best described as "15 years of Republican healthcare policy until the moment Obama adopted it."

Etc. Etc. Etc. It's a loooooooooong list. It goes back to Reagan campaigning vs. Reagan governing: "The Republicans are the party that tells you that big government and big deficits are awful, while growing government and deficits to prove it."

Brits are relieved they're no longer the world's biggest f*ckups

... In June, when Britain voted to leave the European Union, many Brits felt humiliated and frustrated that they had apparently taken the crown as the 'world's most stupid country.'

Now it's America's turn....
BRITAIN: Brexit is the stupidest, most self-destructive act a country could undertake.
USA: Hold my beer.
Watching in the UK it feels just like Brexit night all over again except with nuclear codes instead of Marmite price rises
Typical America. We do Brexit and they have to go bigger
Post Brexit, no one thought it'd be possible to out-stupid Britain.
But you know America. Never one to back down from a challenge!
Good luck America.

Yours sincerely, the British people.

Ben Carson on potentially being offered a cabinet position: I have no governing experience, I must decline (paraphrased).

When he first announced his candidacy, my first thought was "here's a man who has everything,
has enough money to want for nothing; now he's wanting to go to the top of the heap by adding 'President of the United States' to his list of achievements".
I'm still not convinced I might be wrong....

You know how FDR had his fireside radio chats to the American public back in the day?

Trumps gonna have 2AM Twitter flame wars instead.

Nevermind the fleas Trump has picked up from lying with the dogs of the alt-right. Nevermind that politics/government is different from running your own personal business empire. Just look at his management style and practices. Picks staffers who don't like each other and lets them fight. Too hands-on for any large corporation. Poor judge of skill/character for selecting people. "Motivates" through fear. yada yada. It's not that he's been successful with that style, it's that he's been (marginally) successful (considering where he started), in spite of that. Politics or ideology aside, he's a management trainwreck. And he's going to be President for a while.

What the ones who voted against him don't realize, or don't want to admit, is the effects of the last 8 years is what got Trump elected,
never mind the lack of qualifications. Obama had very little experience when he was elected too.
