Yeah, it's just awful......and poor Silvio's dad is so upset over the situation it caused him to make an extended stay away from his home in Brazil and randomly bust out singing as an outlet for his grief. Not to mention the several hundreds of thousands of dollars this endeavor has required, and resulted in the rescue of one of the historic homes of Asheville. What the hell kind of people are these?O Really wrote:OK, now I understand why Mr.B et.al. are hung up on the "gay lifestyle." Here's an outrageous example in the A-CT. Imagine - two middle-age guys, a hotel services manager and an accountant! Accountant? Seriously? How awful a lifestyle is that? Remodeled a house in Montford - it's enough to make anyone barf. And a Christmas tree! Ewwwwww! Those with such "lifestyles" should definitely be discriminated against.

You're right. I'm not. That's why I know you don't have any "lifestyle" objections. You object to the sex practices you assume they have, which are not dissimilar to those practiced by many heterosexuals. That's the only thing you have against them. And that's how you define them and their entire life. No problem. Just admit that you're as irrationally prejudiced as I am and quit using the "lifestyle" euphemism. If there's anything about their actual "lifestyle" that you do object to, now would be a good time to bring it up.Mr.B wrote:Vrede's rubbing off on you. You ain't no dummy.

I'll take that as a compliment, no matter how it was intended. I enjoy Vrede.Mr.B wrote:Vrede's rubbing off on you..
In my real life relationships (spouse/significant others/long-term relationships), I have always been attracted to women who are scary smart, independent, strong, and beautiful. The type that a lot of men are intimidated by, and the type that those who are intimidated may refer to as hard-ass bitches, etc. (see, for example, the women on "Bones" or "Alicia Florek." That type frequently require some degree of maintenance, but the rewards of a person who is never boring, full of ideas, creative and fun are more than worth the effort.

You're right. I object to their "sex practices", no assuming to it. Are you "assuming" that two homosexuals that live together, such as the two in your linked article, don't engage in homosexual sex?...or never have? The reason I use the word * "lifestyle" is thus:..... Vrede: "Mr.B is fantasizing about the sex that "Queers with lots of money" have right now." The idiot thinks that if one even mentions a subject, that one is "obsessed" or is "fantasizing" about it. Mention his name negatively, and you're fantasizing or obsessing over him. I'm glad the world you and I live in is larger than Vrede's.
"That's the only thing you have against them.....And that's how you define them and their entire life...."
Correct again...I've said that many times; that's why I said you're no dummy. I have nothing against homosexuals personally, just the
* "lifestyle" they lead. Whether they were born that way or chose that way is not mine to judge; I believe what the Bible says and I'll let God make the call.
"If there's anything about their actual "lifestyle" that you do object to, now would be a good time to bring it up."
For the hundredth time? I repeat...you're no dummy.
"Just admit that you're as irrationally prejudiced as I am and quit using the "lifestyle" euphemism."
That would depend on whether you mean "irrationally prejudiced" against them as individuals, or "irrationally prejudiced" in their * "lifestyle", which is no euphemism.

Dang, Mr.B - I'm not trying to change your mind, but it's not "lifestyle." It's sexual practices that you object to. Fine. But using "lifestyle" to cover up your distaste for specific sexual practices is indeed euphemistic. Like the hunters who go out to "harvest" Bambi. Own what you think.

Are you saying that O Really is really stupid and it's my diversion to say he isn't?
"O Really (and his father) were warriors for tolerance, equality and justice before I was."
You mean O Really is really Tim, what's his name, the painter, whose father passed away some time back? Wondered what happened to ol' Tim.
Truth, justice, & the American way and all that....should I stand up and sing the National Anthem now? If I can wait and sing it later, I'll arrange a flyover as well.

I don't know that Vrede has taken me to task on grammar or punctuation, but he has on content, and upon further review, he's been right. That's why I don't catch the grief that some do, because I don't keep saying the same (wrong) things over and over when I know or should know that they are wrong.

Seems I recall Timm's mentioning an Indian heritage......warriors and all that. Or is that a racist remark in your little ol' small world?
(btw...how can I ever thank you for correcting me on apostrophe placement?)
IRL I'm kind of a boring person that does some interesting things and has some nonconforming views.
Yep....small person, small world. Point proven.

Re: Homos
Mr. B, if you lived in the Montford neighborhood near the "queers with money" you'd probably have gotten an invitation to the party. Would you have gone? Before you answer, keep in mind that probably 90% of the other guests were not "queers with money" but just people with money.

Re: Homos
I think Vrede wrote "largess" in one post but it should be "largesse" I believe. I think it's a French word, The French like to put an "e" on the end of words. But in his defense, he was responding to Ragin' Rebel about welfare recipients where the original error was. In fact, Ragin' Rebel IS an original error.O Really wrote:I don't know that Vrede has taken me to task on grammar or punctuation, but he has on content, and upon further review, he's been right. Re: Homos
Whining makes my ass drag. I've made many errors in my life and don't expect that I'm immune from more. But when I discover that I'm wrong, I accept the fact and hope to not be wrong again. After all, they say two wrongs don't make a right......they make a dumbass.

Re: Homos
No point in admitting mistakes; in your condescending little mind, any admission of error is deemed to be "weaseling"; therefore, I accept my errors and mistakes quietly and move on......you? you milk it for all it's worth. You want some cheese and crackers with your whine?Vrede wrote: "The more important difference between you, me and O Really vs. folks like Ragin Rebel, Mr.B and indago is not over the frequency of their errors but rather that they are too delicate to admit mistakes and therefore they compensate with whining."

I too, have made many errors, still make 'em; I too accept them and hope to not be wrong again....but then...there's Vrede.

I'm happy that we've got Vrede to set us straight. Whatever would this forum be without him?

Re: Homos
I just noticed that and fixed it. Another in the long list of errors in my humble life.
