Congress to Investigate Benghazi 'Talking Points

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

So O'R and the Vred, why do you think Slick wanted to meet with Ms Flowers if it wasn't for a roll in the hay? Since both of you think she's a dimwit he must not have wanted to meet with her to discuss politics.

Q: Why do you assume that he did want to see her?

A: Because you're a gullible fool who believes anything anti-Democratic, no matter how bogus the source and believes nothing pro-Democratic, no matter how well documented.

Plus, no one gives a #*#@ whether he called her or not. Has nothing to do with the thread or anything else.

Can't discuss a current issue, but you sure can obsess about Bill Clinton. Sure there's not some jealousy there? Some latency issues, maybe?

At least it's 3 decades more current than Jane Fonda in the 1960s.
I may have mentioned my dad was a Marine in the South Pacific during WWII. When I was very young, he still had a lot of war attitude left over with regard to Japan, and refused to buy anything made there, referring to it as "jap crap." He also harboured a lot of resentment for one of the Army generals, maybe MacArthur?, who he believed to have thrown Marines under the bus. But within a few years, when some subject related to the war came up, he'd usually just say, "well, that was a long time ago." During his life, he not only bought a lot of Japanese products, but visited Japan and "forgave" MacArthur. Life evolves.

Life evolves for many, but not all.

Stinger wrote:I think all this McCain/Graham BS about Susan Rice is simply a Republican ploy to get them to nominate John Kerry for SOS.

Then they can run Scott Brown to take over Kerry's seat and get the numbers more in their favor.

I just can't believe they got Collins in on it.
It was just 8 years ago that the Pubs were Swiftboating John Kerry and playing up how un-American and unpatriotic his testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was, and now they're crowing about what a great Secretary of State he would make.

More con hypocrisy. They don't have jackspit on Susan Rice. They just want Kerry's senate seat to be in play.

Ricks is the guy who wrote "Fiasco; the American Military Adventure in Iraq" which I recommended as an informative read for Reality in some post from the past; as I recall, he disparaged Ricks as a "talking head" who may or may not know what he's talking about. I will go on record as recommending "Fiasco" to anyone wishing to know about our Iraq war.

I heard a news story today about one of the supposed leaders of the attack on the Benghazi consulate was arrested today in Egypt. The conspriacy and coverup bullshit that Suppermonger crows about is still in the "we'll wait / opps" category. Looks like it's getting harder to hate America as time goes by.

rstrong wrote:I know of plenty of **Democrats** who said they were considering voting for McCain in 2000.

But being his own man made him a threat to the Republican leadership. Anyone running for office as a Republican was given what was essentially a loyalty oath, stipulating that they would support George W. Bush in the forthcoming primaries exclusively, and not McCain, and if they didn't agree, the Party would withhold its financing from their election bid.

And so the polls liked McCain, but he never had a chance in the 2000 primaries.
BTW, the Republicans did this again in 2012. This time Ron Paul took the Republican Party to court over it.
The plaintiffs claim that the party violated federal law by forcing delegates to sign loyalty affidavits, under threat of perjury, to vote for Mitt Romney, before an official nominee is selected.
The judge said that the claim failed because political parties have a right to exclude people from membership and leadership roles.

More evidence that the Republican primaries are decided ahead of time and are just for show, a way to get lots of press, and to have the chosen candidate stand next to Bachmann/Perry/Santorum/Paul for a while to make him look sane and intelligent and viable by comparison.
