Obamacare

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Oh, look! Liarbart misrepresenting a poll! That must mean it's a day ending in 'y'!

From the original source:
Still, the fact that less than a quarter of uninsured Americans who say they plan to get insurance through an exchange have visited one so far suggests that other factors are at work. It may be that many uninsured Americans are waiting to try out the health exchange websites until their highly publicized problems are fixed, or they may simply be putting off decisions about getting insurance until later
Liarbart. Because some things are too dishonest even for Faux News to say.

Yup. This is exactly the sort of thing that made everyone from Bob Dole to Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney and many other prominent Republicans demand the Individual Mandate for 15 years. Right up until the moment Obama agreed with them.

Two techies who have nothing whatsoever to do with the project say scrap and start over.

No, wait, that's not entirely fair. On one hand they say that "It’s just a form to apply for a subsidy to get health insurance. It’s automating a paper form. It shouldn’t be that hard." On the other hand they acknowledge that the data on the forms is coming live from "a host of federal agencies" - plus insurance companies - "across different firewalls." So no, it's NOT just "automating a paper form", and they know it.

They say that "Technically, this is not that difficult" while at the same time predicting failure because it's an impossibly complicated task.

And even if the startup problems are fixed they say it's a failure, because "The idea that it would be perfect is never. All systems are never perfect. It’s never perfectly secure or functioning." Which of course anyone with even the least knowledge of computers knows is true of ANY system.

A more accurate headline would be: Two "techies" - with obvious lack of reasoning skills and who got their tech credentials from listening to 13-year-olds swear at each other on Xbox-Live - and who have nothing whatsoever to do with the project - say scrap and start over.

Of course the more likely headline would be "Republican hacks excrete still more stupid and dishonest claims for gullible idiots to post to web forums."

I wonder if the House Committee On Homeland Security who invited Luke Chung, Harvard graduate, owner of FMS software, etc. got his tech credentials from listening to 13-year-olds swear at each other on Xbox-Live?

Testimony

"You can polish a turd, but it is still a turd" - Luke Chung

For 27 years, FMS has provided professional software solutions
For 27 years, *I've* provided professional software solutions.

I stand by what I wrote above. The claims in the article are entirely contradictory, and what claims are valid are also true of ANY software project.

Just like the Titanic life boats obama's so called "fix" to his health care law will do nothing to help the American people and possibly be the very undoing of his precious law. IF his actions yesterday are even legal, he apparently has no concept of just what is involved in meeting his demands....not to mention his idea is AGAINST the law. Watching this fall apart is almost as much fun as watching you idiots trying to spin the story around to where you are on top in this issue. :---P

Obama adopts 15 years of Republican health care policy - including the personal mandate they kept demanding - and instantly the Republicans declare it illegal and unconstitutional.

Now Obama adopts delays that the Republicans demanded - and held the country hostage for - and instantly the Republicans declare it illegal and unconstitutional.

Gee. Who could have foreseen it?

Hey canadian bacon.....we have this thing down here called a CONSTITUTION. The CONSTITUTION says that a LAW is changed through legislative process...not by an individual during a press conference. If obama wants to change or delay THE LAW then he goes to congress to accomplish that. Problem for him is that there is now enough rebellion in his own party that he might not get what he wanted. You are really a special kind of stupid to think that the opposition is to the actual change...the opposition is to the METHOD with which it was decreed.

And.....?
Republicans declared the personal mandate to be unconstitutional - er, UNCONSTITUTIONAL - and were proven wrong by the Supreme Court. But considering that the personal mandate had been Republican policy for 15 years, do you actually think they believed that it was unconstitutional? Or was it just a talking point for gullible submorons to repost to internet forums?

The same goes for this latest Republicon talking point. The delay merely keeps existing law for a little longer. That existing law wasn't unconstitutional before last month, so how did it become unconstitutional now? If merely the act of keeping it a bit longer is unconstitutional, then why did the Republicons not only demand that delay, but held the country hostage for it?

The answer of course is that the Republicon leadership doesn't believe for an instant that the delay is illegal or unconstitutional. It's yet another talking point for gullible submorons to post to internet forums. Just so you know your role here.

And BTW, "Canadian bacon" is an American term. We call it "ham."

Oops wrong again. The individual mandate was upheld by SCOTUS as only a TAX. The ONLY grounds was that congress has the authority to TAX.

No one is claiming, at this point, that the existing law is unconstitutional. However, obama DOES NOT have the constitutional authority to unilaterally change an EXISTING LAW. That has to be done through the legislative process. Please try to keep up or are you intentionally spinning as you go down in flames. :---P

BTW canadian bacon or ham..it is still the same....it is just a slice off a pig's ass :-H

I've made no statements regarding the process through which the slavery and prohibition laws were changed. I've merely pointed out that your liberal ilk's argument that Obamacare is "the law of the land" and can not be changed holds no water, due to the fact that other laws have in fact been changed...even fully repealed. Please do not try to twist things and place untrue words in my mouth.

See? Confusion and stupidity are your constant companion....I didn't admit the GOP was right about anything. I just point out how rabidly you cheered for them doing the same thing Obama is now doing, and how you now have a 180 degree difference on the matter. It just proves you get your ideas fed to you by others.

The Republicans claimed that it was unconstitutional. Their grounds for claiming so were examined by SCOTUS. The Republicans were wrong, no matter how you twist it.

Meanwhile in reality, we went through this a few months ago:

The Atlantic, Jul 17 2013: The GOP says Obama's decision to postpone implementing the "employer mandate" stomps all over the Constitution. It doesn't, and here's why
In effect, the Administration explains the delay as a sensible adjustment to phase-in enforcement, not a refusal to enforce.

In Sunday's Washington Post, Bush II Health & Human Services Secretary Michael O. Leavitt concurred that "The [Obama] Administration's decision to delay the employer mandate was wise," in light of the Bush Administration's initially bumpy but ultimately successful phase-in of the 2004 prescription drug benefit to Medicare. Though "wise," is the current postponement "illegal"? On the contrary, Treasury's Mazur wrote to Chair Upton, such temporary postponements of tax reporting and payment requirements are routine, citing numerous examples of such postponements by Republican and Democratic administrations when statutory deadlines proved unworkable.

In fact, applicable judicial precedent places such timing adjustments well within the Executive Branch's lawful discretion...

Problem for your little defense is that this is NOT a "timing adjustment", it is a unilateral change in the REGULATIONS set forth in the law.

Nah, I don't think about pig's asses but it is hard to ignore them when I am surrounded by them here.
