2016 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Ex-CIA officer launches presidential campaign aimed at thwarting Donald Trump

Hillary Clinton Gains Double-Digit Lead Over Donald Trump in Key Battleground States

... Clinton has generated double-digit margins in Virginia and Colorado with 13-point and 14-point advantages over Trump, respectively.

The poll also showed Clinton with leads over Trump in Florida and North Carolina. In the Sunshine State, Clinton has a 5-point edge among registered voters. In North Carolina, Clinton enjoys a 9-point advantage.

Losses in these states could be devastating for Trump. The Republican nominee’s clearest path to the White House requires wins in Ohio and Florida, where Hillary Clinton has a slight lead, as well as North Carolina and Pennsylvania, where he trails by a broad nine percentage points....

I'm looking forward to after the election and inauguration when we can get back to normal with criticizing Hillary and congressional Dems for being too Republican. :D

A couple of polls doth not an election make...however, this is a really fun article. Hillary up by 9, McCrory and Burr behind.

... Down ballot, incumbent Republican Sen. Richard Burr is trailing Democratic challenger Deborah Ross by 2 points among registered voters, 46 percent to 44 percent...
Hillary and McCrory I knew about, but that's a shocker.

I may have to get out the checkbook again.

Too bad the statewide votes won't be reflected in other races thanks to the GOP's extreme gerrymandering.

If we can get McCrory out and just cut out enough Republicans to not have a veto-proof majority, we'll be doing pretty well, particularly with the ongoing lawsuits on the gerrymander and the probable win on voter ID and HB2. And if we win the Asheville water theft case, too, much of the effort the Republicans have made over the past few years will have gone to waste.

Can you imagine what Warren could do, for example, as chair of the Committee on Banking, Housing, & Urban Affairs in a majority Dem Senate, which is a real possibility thanks to Trump and the GOP chaos? She could even pay special attention to your BoA, neoplacebo. ;) ...

Why in hell wasn't Hillary in Baton Rouge days ago

It's not like the Andrew visit didn't push Bill over the top.

Because, as the Governor said about Trump (don't show up for a photo-op) or about Obama (it would be better to wait and us not have to use resources for security and such that we need for rescue), there' really nothing she can do and it's not an area that would be particularly encouraged or inspired by her presence.

Personally, as much as I love parts of Louisiana and some of the people there, I'm sick and tired of these states constantly bashing the damgummint and everybody in it and then sticking out their hands when it rains.

You may remember last year when a 15 year old kid filled out the necessary paperwork to run for President under the name "Deez Nuts." Public Policy Polling (PPP) decided to toss it into their poll as a bit of fun. The poll found that "Deez Nuts" would get 9% of the vote.

Now the Federal Election Commission (FEC) has announced that it will start cracking down on candidates with "false or fictitious names."

This after PPP released a new poll this week, showing Green Party candidate Jill Stein trailing Deez Nuts in Texas.

:D
Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein is tied with Harambe, the gorilla killed in a Cincinnati zoo in May, in a new poll of Texas voters.

... 2 percent of voters would vote for Stein ...

Tuesday’s poll also has Stein trailing Deez Nuts, the fictional politician, who has the support of 3 percent of voters....
Lucky for Jill that a POTUS has to be alive and over 35 years old. I'm not sure if the Constitution specifies human or nonfictional.

Same poll:

Trump Leads By Only 6 in Texas

Give Hillary the Jill Stein and Harambe voters (not sure about Deez Nuts voters), which I think is reasonable, and Hillary is only down by 2% . . . in Texas!
