2016 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Obama's going. He and Hillary may have even decided together it's better for him to since it's still his job. I doubt opportunistic Trump gained much, if anything.

The Donald was generally bashed for his show-boat adventure. Including a pic mocking him passing out play-doh (apparently about a dozen boxes before heading to the reporters).

Because what's more vital in time of natural disaster than Play-Doh?

I agree re Trump, not necessarily re the Play-Doh. A friend took beach balls to Sri Lanka after the tsunami. I made a similar comment and he explained to me how important it is to put smiles on the faces of traumatized kids that have lost everything.

I heard LA's Governor expressing appreciation to Obama for waiting until after rescue efforts had become recovery ones.

(Sends Play-Doh and beach balls to Jeb!'s SuperPAC donors...)

Age, gender, health, spouses, legal issues, bigotry, honesty, money, supporters, character - seems like we're discussing everything but policy. :( That's one thing about a Bernie nomination - with his integrity and relatively boring personal life we probably would have been debating the pros and cons of democratic socialism.

Not that I'm counting chickens, but the numbers are encouraging:

Democrats Have a 60 Percent Chance to Retake the Senate
We asked 6 experts if Donald Trump's unpopularity will doom congressional Republicans

... But about 20 House districts are controlled by Republicans where their PVI (Partisan Voting Index) was only +1 in 2014, according to the Cook Political Report. If a Trump meltdown pushes more and more of those House districts to move into the -6 category, the Republicans’ odds of keeping the House look increasingly unlikely.

This is one reason the margin of a Clinton victory may prove so crucial. In 2012, Mitt Romney lost the presidential election by about 4 percentage points to Barack Obama — which was considered a decisive victory. Clinton these days is generally up around 5 points in the polls, but some have found her leading by as many as 8 or 10 points — a result that would be truly disastrous for Republicans down the ballot....
Not that Dem wins will solve all of our problems, but I'd rather be complaining about Dems being too Republican than about Republicans being too Republican.

35 years after trying to assassinate Ronald Reagan, John Hinckley Jr. will be released to his mother's home in Virginia

Is it a coincidence that he's being released after it's certain that either Trump or Hillary will be POTUS? I think not. :o

Are you suggesting that he still has a chance to impress Jodi Foster?

Hillary Clinton Raises More Than Donald Trump From Oil Industry

 Good for the election, bad for the country and planet.

In contrast:
Green Party's Jill Stein charged with trespassing, mischief

A North Dakota judge issued a warrant Wednesday for the arrest of Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, who is accused of spray-painting construction equipment during a protest against the Dakota Access pipeline.

Court records show Stein was charged Wednesday in Morton County with misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and criminal mischief. The same charges have been filed against her running mate, Ajamu Baraka....

Activists invited Stein to leave a message at the protest site near the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's reservation on Tuesday, Figueroa said, and Stein sprayed "I approve this message" in red paint on the blade of a bulldozer. A court document shows Baraka painted the word "decolonization" on a piece of construction equipment....

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is trying to stop construction of a section of the $3.8 billion four-state pipeline that tribal leaders say would violate sacred and culturally sensitive grounds and possibly pollute water....

I saw a story about Newt Gingrich on Sean Hannity's show that was quite funny; seems Newt had a coughing fit while he and Hannity were talking about Hillary's coughing fit. Hannity actually timed Clinton's cough at 4 minutes and some seconds. He and Newt then agreed that Newt's cough wasn't nearly as long. Then they both agree that flying in planes a lot (the dry air of a sealed environment) and public speaking sometimes cause folks to cough. They both asserted that they both engage in those activities. I guess they thought Hillary doesn't fly much or do much public speaking. Hilarious.....these morons never cease to amaze me. What's worse is all the nutjobs that believe every bullshit word they say. -0-?
